A surprising shake up happened in Atlanta radio today (December 13) when radio personality and local celebrity, Frank Ski, announced the end of his “Frank and Wanda Morning Show”, which aired daily on urban station, V-103FM for the past 14 years. The tearful announcement, made as a read written statement, prompted supportive calls from competing radio hosts, Rickey Smiley and Michael Baisden.
Frank Ski, a Baltimore native, has been a staple in Atlanta radio as well as the community sponsoring numerous charitable events, including the most recent Frank Ski Celebrity Winetasting hosted by Kevin Liles. He is also the owner of the popular, Frank Ski’s Restaurant and Lounge, which has played host to numerous Hip-Hop oriented events, including LudaDay Weekend. There was no mention of changes in the ownership or management of the restaurant, although the Atlanta Journal Constitution noted that the radio personality’s Dunwoody, Georgia, home is currently for sale, with a listing price of $2.2 million.
In a written statement, Frank Ski stated: ”As the story continues, you will hear me again on radio & I will not leave the city I call home. As one beautiful chapter ends and another begins, I will take the memories we’ve created and never forget how the story began. I look forward to sharing the next chapter with you, and creating even more unforgettable memories. This is not a good-bye, Atlanta, but instead — to be continued… very soon.”
V-103FM, which is owned by CBS Radio, is expected to replace the “Frank and Wanda Morning Show” with popular Atlanta radio personality, Ryan Cameron, who currently holds the “drive time” slot at 2pm to 6pm.
