  1. DONDRIA VS PHATFFFAT IN STORES AUG 3rd! LE GO !!! SOSODEF !

  2. IM FIRST FOR THE FIRST TIME LOL!!! thats great jd timing is everything keep this good promo going…great job dondria…

  3. well i guess second you beat me stoneyocean…lol

  4. hey Jd, I think its relevant to get a album out when the artist is hot at that moment, due to pushing the album back futher it loses the buzz for the album. I am a lifer and loves R&B but the thing is when your a new artist and hot and got a real buzz going on people are wanting you music fast.. Its nothing like having the newst hottest shit before everyone else you should know something about that. I feel you on wanting to getting another hot single out before the album drop, but you need that second hot single in rotation before the first hot single dies down.. For example , MAriah ( emancipation of MIMI) when she came out… they was dropping singles before that first one died and that was hot…I think she should do some collabo’s to while her single is out.. To really get her buzz going so it will show different sides and diversity.. I trust you know what your doing but hey you got to smash on her first album because aint nothing harder than trying to get people interested in trying to buy a second one…Ask Brandy ….lol…j/kidding

  5. thats the song i been waiting on. nice way to intro her and cross promote LSR! just take diamond off and im 100% on board. LOL

  6. Personally, I believe waiting never really hurt anyone.
Just look at Monica. Had “Still Standing” being released last year, it may not have sold as much as it did.

@ Ray Walker, I can understand where you are coming from, but having “buzz”, does not translate to people buying the album when it comes out. I can name countless people that have had buzz upon buzz, yet their album sales were below what was expected.
eg. Rihanna. That girl was everywhere (both locally and internationally) last year, and if memory serves me right, her last album was one of her lowest- selling.
eg. Justin Beiber. I could have sworn he would have sold at least a milli his first week, but he only sold quarter of that.

Right now, Dondria is sitting at no. 23 on the Billboard R&B/ Hip-Hop chart…and that in itself is a great thing.
Hopefully, she can move to Top 20 next week, and Top 10 by the end of the month.

  7. @Ewurafua I see what your talking about in the 2 artist that you mention( Rihanna, Beiber). But we are talking about real R&B music right her back witha En Vogue, SWV, or Monica , … I mean with this Dondria movement it sounds like real music is back. Thanks to JD & B. Cox that always write classic music that people feel from an emotional stand point… See Those artist you mention are just putting out music thats hot at that moment. I like Dondria Plus she from TeXas and she can sing, but with that voice and real music she can become a true legend , not a hot buzz..

All in all I am trying to say is Look at usher album ” Confeesions”, ” Emancipation of MIMI”, “Jagged edge album the one last one they did with you JD”, “Trey Songs” , ablums, when you have a strong team and Nice records on the album people or gonna buy , just keep her buzz hot , so about time the album drop around with the hottest track on the album is released it will be bought..

  8. @ Ray Walker,
agreed that the two people I mentioned just release music for the sake of it. They are also more ‘pop’ artists.
I can understand that Dondria represents real R&B music to you. I understand that, because I fully stand behind her too.

However, the comparisons you are making are a little out there.
You have to understand that the music industry is far from what it used to be. En Vogue and SWV etc came out over a decade ago, and since then, the dynamics have changed drastically.
Usher and Mimi have each released several albums after the two you mentioned, and those two were not as successful as their predecessors.

At the end of the day, all I am saying is that, having buzz doesn’t equate to great album sales. This hypothesis seems to run through a number of music genres; not just R&B.
People are very skeptical of what they buy these days, and with the Internet giving people access to free downloads etc., album sales have not been the best.

What JD is trying to do is get great album sales for Dondria. Not only for “Dondria vs Phatfffat” but for all her future projexts as well. At least, that is what I am hoping.
You can’t put in this much effort for lukewarm response from the public, and if that means withholding the album for a few months; then so be it.

P.S. Another prove that ‘buzz’ does not equate to album sales = Sade.
When the “Soldier of Love” album got released, I was worried, because I felt as though they hadn’t been properly promoted. Their first single was also sitting in the 20s position on the R&B charts, yet that album went Gold the 1st week.

At the end of the day, “buzz” is not what CEOs of labels should aspire for. They should aspire for likeability. Buzz is only temporary, and after it fades off…or the next best hot thing comes along, you are forgotten.
However if you have likeability, fans will always stick to you. They will always support you, because they like/ love you.

  9. Missed the performance yet, i know it was incredible.. Congratulation to dondria & the entire crew!!!!!

  10. Missed the performance yet, i know it was incredible.. Congratulation to dondria & the entire crew for a job well done!!!!!

  11. @Ewurafua i agree with you about when the fans like you part…. But the part about Sade album going Gold is from the older generation as well , you wouldnt find many young people out there buying Sade albums so her loyal fans that have always loved Sade and knew her album was coming out bought it.

Buzz is temporary but when your buzz is hot and stays hot it seems to run for about 6 to 7 mnths until after you get off someone tour then by then round 2 for the next album should be in the making already.

But over all being said i would sugget coming out the gates smoking hot till the rubber melts off the rims.. Cause this chick is seems liek she can hold R&B down by her self for a minute….. on the real…

So WE can Agree to disagree….

  12. hey… the album drops on my b-day. i’m extra geeked. it will be a psa on my facebook for sure.

  13. Dondria was flawless as always!! Love that Gurl… But what I wanna know is WHAT THE HELL WAS ROXIE WEARING?!?!? WTF for real! In the words of Tyrone “That shit just aint & wont it!!” LOL

  14. YAY YAY, THATS MY BDAY, CAN’T WAIT TO GET IT!!!

  15. jd, please please change the album title! dondria will be around for a very long time. i see her on whitney status vocally and dondria vs. phatfat is not a classic/classy title for a young lady wither her vocal ability. music needs her right now and the public should take her serious. lets drop the phatfat!

  16. ^ * with her

  17. Wow she is doin her thing…love Dondria n so happy that she is finally gettin her stuff out there….can’t wait for the album

  18. I can’t wait for the album to hit stores. I will definitely go out and buy it since Dondria is an artist that I actually like.

Now with Ray Walker and Ewurafua, I agree with many of the things that both of them have said, but one thing that really stuck out that Ray said was something like at least drop her next single before You’re The One dies down. I would agree with that 100%. But seeing that we only have a little less then 3 months left
before her album comes out, i dont think that should be a problem.

And obviously JD saw (and still sees) something in Dondria, which is why he signed her, so I believe that he will have her career at best interest.

  19. Dondria was AWESOME !!

  20. i love the fact that jd pushed it back.. bout to put out a 2nd single , jd knows best! cant wait… but patiently waiting.

  21. AWell thats how the used to do it back in the day 3 singles before the album so I think u doing it right JD!! keep smashing on these folks!! I got one in the bag myself and Im following the blue print!!
