No that first ad makes me think dag why she got her azz all up in my face lol!..But i do think sex sells..I’m attracted to men so this particular ad does nothing for me..but if it were a man with sexy underwear as in Nelly in that Sean John ad..yeah i would want to buy them in hopes that my man would look as good in them..I believe sex sells to whatever audience ur trying to appeal to..in this case the appeal is to men..Advertisers use it as a way to jar ur interest and get u take immediate notice…it definitely gets attention..does it translate to sales? i have never been a fan of nor will i ever support american apparel due to their ads which are nothing but 70′s style porn masquerading as trendy/sexy/american appeal. every ad i’ve seen from this company has the same style and it disgusts me. their brand of marketing is seen everywhere in nyc from the back of the village voice (which is considered a prime piece of advertising real estate) to the free metro papers to billboards and nothing changes. it may have been a cute gimmick in the beginning throwing a shout out to the era of ron jeremy and then trying something else to reach the masses but they haven’t done anything else. it only cheapens the companies belief and action in providing american made clothing produced by people who are paid a decent wage and not working in sweatshops. but you wouldn’t know that because all you see is a gyrl in barely there clothing who also happens to be an employee at any 1 of the american apparel stores (the staff at the stores do more than just ring up your items and restock or fold).
sex sells based on the demographic and the demographic that sells well is, and will always be, men. this is why you will not see a man in an american apparel ad again.

The first pic doesn’t make me as a heterosexual woman want to buy them. They’re not that cute and they’re not at all the focal point of the picture. The other two pics are a bit more tasteful and those underwear look cute. But this ad campaign definitely doesn’t make me want to jump up and run out to buy the panties. Now, if my man thinks of buying them for me after seeing this ad, then great!!!
