I think that johnta austin is a very talented songwriter- probably one of the most successful in the game, but it seems as though he jus can’t break into the industry as an artist.And with all these writers and producers putting out albums (Keri hilson,The Dream on his second,Ryan Leslie, ect),Austin has to feel some kind of way suffering from the Sean Garrett syndrome.Ocean Drive has songs leaking left and right,but seems as though it will never see the light of day.His material isn’t bad,and his voice isn’t half bad either…so why can’t johnta catch on – CONCRETELOOP.COM

I CREATED GLOBAL14 FOR THIS ONE REASON IF YOU WANNA KNOW ABOUT ME AND MY ARTIST THIS IS WHERE YOU GONNA GET YOUR ANSWERS. I WAS OVER ON CONCRETELOOP TODAY AND I CAME ACROSS THIS POST. IT’S VERY INTERESTING CAUSE IN THIS POST THEY LEFT OUT SO MUCH KEY INFORMATION IT MAKES ME WONDER DO BLOGGERS CARE IF YALL REALLY KNOW WHATS GOING ON? IF YOUR A LIFER THEN YOU KNOW THAT I LEFT DEF JAM AND I TOOK DONDRIA AND JOHNTA WITH ME. IN THE MIST OF THAT JOHNTA AND I WENT BACK IN THE STUDIO AND STARTED CREATING A NEW ALBUM IN-TITLED LOVE, SEX AND RELIGION. FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS I’VE BEEN GIVEN YOU SONGS FROM THE OLD ALBUM TO GET PEOPLE THAT DON’T KNOW TO MUCH ABOUT HIM UP ON WHERE WERE GOING. THE DELAY WITH JOHNTA COMING OUT HAS NOTHING TO WITH HIM NOT BEING ABLE TO CATCH ON. IT’S MORE ABOUT ME LEAVING DEF JAM AND FINDING A HOME FOR HIS MUSIC WHERE PEOPLE REALLY CARE. IT WON’T BE LONG SO GET READY!!!!!!!!

I believe that Johnta has a GOD given voice and god does not grace people and do not give them their time to shine, especially with the many talents that he has blessed him with it’s only a matter time before people come to their senses and realize that he is one of the best male vocalist that is under rated and he will soon get the acknowledgement as being one of the best.

  4. I don’t think in this case the blog was negative. It seems as if the writer is feeling Johnta’s music but is just concerned that it isn’t getting the exposure it deserves. I have been following you’ll from the beginning and although I know you’ll have great music and a strong movement, I’m not sure either, how that will translate into record sales and general success of your artistes. What I do know is that you have your following of which I am a part of so that is a good start.

  5. It’s going to take people inside the industry like yourself, correcting the bad or incomplete information posted by bloggers. Some of the bloggers will post corrections/retractions when the misdeed is brought to their attention. I’m sure you’re not interested in correcting them, but that is the only way they will learn to do better.

    It would at first seem the way bloggers are saying he just aint it; however, once I heard his music, I thought ok this guy has a nice sound, but yes I did say, BUT…. I think you are messing up his image with the way he’s allowed to say and do anything on your blog. It always isn’t a good thing to let people know how you really feel, then turn around and play like you some softy with the women when it comes to the lyrics.

    Honestly speaking if I may……… I may have liked his music a bit more if I didn’t think he was such an ass from what I seen on your blog. I thought it was hilarious about the in the club brother try’na get your email, but playa really needed to hold onto that one…cause in the long run the ones try’na get the email would more than likely be the ones to buy his CD.

  15. Bloggers are retarded,but that one was actually kind of head on. ANd I said KIND of. Honestly Johnta is a great artist to me. Nothing in life comes easy, and if it does then there is definately going to be a downfall somehow.And thats why I know when Johnta does hit big they’ll be no stopping him. When you talk about keri Hilson, The Dream, and Neyo, you have to look at how long it took them to come out. Keri Hilson is an excellent songwriter(and has been for a few years now) and a pretty good artist. Neyo the same but the Dream annoys me to no end and I would pick Johnta anyday over him. Plus he is a fine man. I want to her real music, not this bullshit that people are pushing now. Autotuned out voices that have no reason to be on the radio. Myself being a church girl born and raised I have heard voices and songwriters out of this world and people dont realize that there are some unsigned people who would blow these people out the water. Johnta is a real artist and when he comes out full throtal I would love to hear what that blogger has to say about it. They say you save the best for last, and even though Johnta may seem to be on the bottom to some people I think he is one of the best.

I was listening to the girl from YBF on Hot 97 and she was saying some shit about Solange and Kelly and Matthew Knowles and she was talking like she was involved. I was wondering, how does she know that what she’s reporting is true and most importantly, does she care if it’s true?

    But whatever…you’re good cuz you do the videos and the posts on here and Twitter so people can actually keep up and really know what’s going on.

    As far as Johnta goes, I can’t wait for the album. He’s definitely going to do great things.

  21. They probably don’t understand the politics of the industry and don’t see that label disputes and contracts can keep a good artist on the shelf until things are resolved.
    As far as his talent is concerned I was just listening to him on that “wheres the love”
    freestyle and he sounds great, it didn’t sound like you had to do 50 punches and use melodyne and auto tune to clean him up. Sounded real natural.Keep up the good work!!

  24. their are many coaches in sports like phil jackson who can coach their asses off but never ever shine as a player in the field. these thing are not anything to be mad about at all johnta is a bad boy doing the pen thing and eating very nice. being a star on the stage is something esle really the only writers that are “starlike” (almost there but only time will tell)in the new class are neyo and t-pain. the dream no matter what he does he will never be convining that he was what he sings about before he had money. you can always buy a spotlight but true shine doesnt come from money. remember the last dragon the glow come from the inside. johnta is a better singer than even one color voice neyo. i think if johnta woodsheded his project and it didnt sound like anything he ever wrote and just took one period of time in his life reflected that on a record in would be crazy. we know hes in oceans but come off the yacht and roll in a raft for just a minute and he could kills these big machine artist. no risk no reward…the truth has spoken

  26. To answer your question, hell no, they don’t care. I use to visit blogs on a daily, but I found myself correcting them on shit. They don’t take the time to research, they just post shit, and some are worse than others and we all know who I’m referring to. Some make up shit to get hits. More hits = more money

    Don’t believe everything you read on these damn gossip blogs anyway. Period. That’s why I like when celebs blog, vlog, or tweet. Cut out the middle man(bloggers).

  28. Johnta has a great voice and he’s really talented. So it’s not necessary to rush on things. Just make sure that you bring out a nice r&b album, cause the r&b songs are ridiculous right now. You hear the dream everywhere. His beats are really annoying right now. Sean garret is a producer and that’s the only thing that he must do. So Johnta, don’t rush with the album, just take your time and make sure that all your tracks are hot.

    Blogging has become the new thing in the industry from artists to fans. There are so many artists who try to front like they not blogging when they really are. It keeps people relevant and with that relevancy often comes discrepancies or flat out lies. People don’t care about the truth they care about how many hits I can get or how much of a buzz I can create. While that’s all good, the public is being misinformed due to lack of integrity in what your write and post.

    Imma lifer…. To my other lifers who say they check this after work, I definitely check this,youtube, and twitter right after class as well. This is definitely a source for me to say current in what’s going on and laying the groundwork for me to see how I’m about to live the life. I turn 21 this year and I’m saving up to go to Vegas just so I can stunt 1 time like the OCEANS6…..

    I can’t wait for Johnta’s album to drop, just make sure he doesn’t drink while recording, it makes his vocals kinda choppy.

    Concretloop was wrong for putting Sean Garrett in the same category as Johnta. His writing is cool, but his vocals are horrible, even protools can’t make him sound good. Don’t know if he’s a friend of y’alls, but to steal a line from Tyrone, when it come to Sean Garrett & singing “THAT AIN”T IT”……..

  34. I think that this Blog is working out just as JD planned. I didn’t know anything about Johnta. Now I know everything. I have learned how long dude as been putting in work which is very valuable. This goes back to what we were talking about before, the public HAS TO KNOW ABOUT THE ARTIST TO GET HOOKED IN. Today a lot of the songs are bigger then the artist. In this market, EVERY CONSUMER IS VALUABLE. I talk shit to JD and them all day but guess what; I take my ass to the store and support them.

I say fuck em’, not only is Johnta super talented, but I believe that he is going to have the album of the decade. I have been a fan since day one, and I feel like Johnta makes classic songs. He has a raspy quality to his voice mixed with amazing vocal control, and lyrics that other writers can’t touch.

    You guys are making music the way it should be, makes you wanna put the seat back in the whip, tell your girl to shut the hell up and just cruise like its Sunday. But then the question is how far will some of these bloggers go to get a hit on their site? Many of the gossip blogs have advertisements and they’re primarily concerned with hits. Mediatakeout is a prime example of a blog that posts pure bullshit just for hits. I think it’s cool that you personally addressed this story concering your artist. Most music CEOs wouldn’t have time for that. There is definitely value in addressing your artists fan base directly.

Some press can be very damaging to an artist’s career. If the media machine decides to go against an artist, it can just about take an act of God to get the artist’s career back on track. For example, look at the Chris Brown situation. Those pictures that TMZ posted was damaging to his image, which could translate to a loss of income. I believe in good old fashioned communication. Just like JD is doing here.

  50. I read the blog on Concrete Loop. I didn’t take it as a negative. It’s just that with certain blogs you can never hear the true story thats why I like to follow artist personal blogs because it keeps you in tuned with what’s really going on with the artist and their daily struggles.

    Look at the end of the day this is a business an everybody is entitled to their opinion. I think part of us not being exposed to Johnta was you (JD) leaving Def Jam but I honestly don’t think that Johnta was getting the exposure he needs. I think his writing is so in tuned and his music is relevant and his personality well speaks for itself. He’s already an artist. I think more people are actually aware of who he really is thanks to your video blogs. So when Johnta does come out.. It’s going to crazy because he already now has that following that he deserves. All of writers that has come out as artist definitely have talent but are not stars by far.

  51. I was excited to see CL even mention Johnta because this site is nothing but positive. Now if it was on SR, Bossip or any of those other BS sites it would be a different story. CL always brings you new music that did not make the cut or that leaked from some ones project. I totally agree with Johnta being very talented and I CAN NOT WAIT to see what he has to offer. I constantly post his music on my FB page to introduce him to others cause I want him to do well when his shit drops. To be honest its not much to get excited about in the music industry anymore. We have a few female artist we get excited about but the males have fallen off. Usher didn’t do so well this go round but there were a few cuts on there I still JAM to this day. I didn’t take this particular blog as that negative but more like misinformed. The problem is the songwriters do not get as much credit as they deserve so when they transition to a more public view the viewing public has no clue cuz the average consumer does not research. This is why it is so important for artists and those that are promoting artists to get the word out. I have known that Johnta is a spectacular talent but over the years I have wondered where was his voice on my radio at times (u know I have issues with commercial radio these days). I think Johnta is hot. but i think the problem is there is not a demand for talent anymore with the internet and 106 and park the young kids have taken over and they getting what they wanna played on the radio and the video shows. Old heads like me don’t have the time to call the radio stations and request songs cause we gotta make a living.   62. I honestly don’t think the blog was being disrespectful in any way. You have to understand that the general public can only comment on what they see and/or hear and a bloggers purpose is to provide further detail on a situation regardless of if they have actual proof. Your job (no disrespect at all) is to make sure that the public know enough to be able to form balanced opinions. Now you’ve cleared it up, any further misconceptions can hopefully be avoided.

    I do also agree with some of the other comments in that people like yourself need to take back the reigns of the industry as the new youth culture and taste for music is getting slightly out of hand. Johnta is an incredible artist and it’s people like him that make me stick with my music and striving to better myself as best i can so that i can one day work as professionally as yourselves, however, its becoming increasingly difficult to appreciate these TRUE artists as we’re bombarded with “fad’s”.

    . With your split from Def Jam are you more open to listening and SEARCHING for new acts. I often feel that people in your power discover “easy targets” meaning those of us who are lucky enough to live in popular cities, have some crazy story thats brought them to your attention etc. I remember you saying in a video regarding Bow Wow that you are looking for someone with the same work ethic and determination as him, i honestly think you have more chance of finding these people in smaller areas where opportunities such as Dondria’s are only dreamed of.

    Anyway i don’t want to ramble on for too long as its my first post on the site. I hope your not given the wrong impressions by this message at all. I’m just a british artist looking at the whole US music industry from an outside point of view wondering if there are ever chances for people like myself to realistically get involved at that level. I know there are thousands of people like me having the same thoughts and that no matter what are still continuing to better themselves, learn and enjoy working in the industry.

    Johnta is an amazing artist and i’ve respected him for a long time. I am looking forward to his album (hopefully i can get it in the UK) and i wish you guys luck with everything your doing/ have done for this business. Nothing but love and respect.

At the same time, greatness cannot be rushed, so I strongly believe that when his album is released it will be out of this world amazing!     I know I love Johnta as an artist and songwriter, so all this ‘can’t catch a break as an artist’ talk just sounds like someone out of the loop (pun intended, I stopped visiting that site 2 years ago). An artist is an artist label or not.

    I agree with the independent route if that’s even an option. I don’t know all the details with the labels these days but JD should be able to do whatever the hell he wants at this stage in the game. That’s how you know something ain’t right.

  72. I don’t agree with what concrete loop posted about Johnta, but I don’t think they are even worth an argument. I personally hate all these gossip sites that drink their HATER-AIDE every morning. And they are all the same – every site has the same ish & gossip. I personally adore Johnta and think he is super talented. Ne-Yo was writing for YEARS…. but growing up he always wanted to perform. (I know pesonally, I grew up with him)…Just so happened – writing and producing paid the bills. And Johnta has a plus – he has major personality & thanks to JD1472 & Global14 we lifers can all se that. People actually got to know a little more about Johnta. No one knew who The DREAM, KERI HILSON, or RYAN LESLIE was unless you deeply followed music like that, they don’t have that swag…..Johnta does tho!!! And who cares????
