DISTRICT 9

I REALLY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN THIS MOVIE FIRST STARTED, EVEN AFTER I WAS A LIL LIKE I DON’T KNOW.  THE STORY UNFOLDED TO BE VERY INTERESTING. THE SETTING OF JOHANNESBURG AND THE ALIENS BOTH MADE THIS SEEM VERY REAL 2 ME. IF YOU LIKE GOOD MOVIES YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUT, NOT TO MENTION ITS NUMBER 1 TAKING IN 37 MILL!

yeah I kind of got the feeling that the aliens where suppose to represent africans in africans during apartheid by the way they treated the aliens.

JD captured my sentiments exactly. Movie went a little left on me but it was a turn in the right direction. Easily top 3 of ’09.

I loved the fact that DISTRICT 9 is reflective of Apartheid South Africa. It would have been more realistic to me if the Black Africans understood that they were treating the Aliens exactly how they treated them. Great effects, great characters, story, wonderfully original. I am a screenwriter and I loved this film.

This movie was very real. This was a different view on how everything has gone down in South Africa since Mandela. It was a very political movie just gave you aliens as a distraction in order to get the point across. Just think about it, 1.South Africa 2.”Aliens” 3. Concentration camps 4.Government looking the other way 5.One figure who stands up against the rest, is banished only to stand up for what he sees is the right thing to do. The only part they didn’t try to tie into everything was the last few scenes which I won’t say for spoil purposes. I liked the concept just was mislead on the trailer.

I can say that I liked this film but I felt like it had some racial undertones to it. It was a political movie if you really listen and focus on the story and bypass all the gore.

i disagree this is not a good film at all…. spotty, people understanding random ‘alien talk’. weird comic relief….i dont know about this one. its raking in money because the trailer is misleading to the actual feel of the movie and there isnt much out right now to compete with it.

“ATLALLDAY” makes me wonder what movie he/she saw because you definitely was only watching the surface… there was so many layers to this movie and I’m glad that most people understood it. Great movie!!

I heard it was not good until the last 10-15 minutes. Good plot but it just didn’t pan out so I am told. You should look at the History Channel’s coverage of UFOs as seen by pilots and astronauts. VERY, VERY interesting. They have the actual recordings of Astronauts and Pilots from all over the world (Japan, Alaska, Texas) who reported numerous sightings while in flight. Of course, a lot of the paperwork has gone missing, but the actual audio of what was going on is most intriguing. I forget the name of it, but it is very good.

@ATLALLDAY I heard it is misleading and it is not what you think it is going to be.

Yo yo JD just wanted to say. I have been studying KUSH/KEMET African History for a while now and your on the right track about the movie. You may not know but there are alot of films that black people need to come to the facts that we are Gods and Goddess from the sirius Star system. Hollyweird ha sbeen playing on this for years and alot of our people are becoming conscious to this. These directors know the truth about the black race and they openly show you whats going on in films by using our deities and our symbols. For example the film hancock, if you know about metaphyics concerning black people you will understand it. Othe rfilms like Transformers revenge of teh fallen, G I joe, and the new films coming our soon, Book of Eli with denzel and Black Adam play by the Rock. District 9 is a classic fear tactic propaganda,, the twist is that we are the true universal space/time travellers and they dont want us to leave this reality until they unlock our secret so they can get the hell out of here…Africa is the birthplace of the true universal infinite time/space travellers…also the district 9/refugee camps are in relation to the king alfred plan of isolation and destruction of minorities. JD I know you and your Oceans members are living the life but between now and 2012 there will be alot of things happening around you that will make you realise that you and the othe rblack people over the world have been lied to for hundreds of years. District 9″ as in 9 Ether and 9 is “Foundation” on the “Tree of Life” as in AFRICA, like The Queen said, Africa is the (earthly) birthplace (foundation) of the true universal infinite time/space travelers. I hope you understand what I’m trying to get at! Why do you think Obama visited Egypt and other places in Africa. Why do you think Micheal Jackson made the remember the time video the way he did. Think about it for a second. Who are the only race on earth to actually evolve with this planet….Black people. Its time to wake up to this because American is being led into Destruction and if you dont understand the layout of your governement and how they are leading you to death with WW3 you will die without knowing the real truth about your won people. This is REAL SHIT, if you dont understand it, I think you should listen more to Canibus’s lyrics just to understand fully. Things are not what yall think it is. All these films are trying to tell you something about yourself and culture. Past present and future. So yeah District 9 is a good film if your understand your history. peace

District 9 was alright. Initially, I knew it would be SCI FI, that alone tells me that there’s also gonna be action & suspense. I like the factor of the humans being the violator and the whole documentary feel. Labor Day (2/07/09) was spent alone but, I managed see this movie.
