Great news for Archos fans. The company is further expanding its line of tablet computing solutions. We reviewed the formidable but slightly flawed Archos Gen X10 running Android. The company took all the cool ideas from that device and slapped them in the recently announced Titanium line of impending Archos tablets. But what’s this–yet another new line of tablets!? What so ever could be the difference? Well this new Platinum line will be the first tablets on the Android platform to feature true HD IPS display types that combine with the beefy performance of a Quad-Core CPU.
There are 3-new tablets in the Platinum line. Each features a distinguished aluminum design. At the bottom tier is the Archos 80 Platinum, an 8-inch slab that kicks out a 1024 x 768 resolution across its IPS screen. This device boasts speeds that are twice as fast as the popular Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Further trumping the Kindle, the 80 Platinum has double the RAM and a rear-facing camera, for only a $199 and it’s available later this month.
