MEAN MAN MEAN
A great Father’s Day: You and Pops on safari, checking out African wildlife in the Serengeti. A likelier Father’s Day: You getting Pops a hand-carved African-ox shoehorn, now available at New York footwear mecca Leffot. No secret that we’re trad-footwear obsessives, but one of these would be a perfect gift: They’ve got an air of old-world prestige (England’s Abbeyhorn has been turning them out since 1749), but at $30 for the smallest, it’s a more reasonable expense than the old man ever need know. A regrettable disclaimer: Some oxen were, evidently enough, harmed in the making of this aristocratic accessory. But the conscientious purveyors at Leffot would like to reassure you that Abbeyhorn only uses tusk from animals killed for meat, never solely f or the horn.
7.5″, $30; 12″, $60; and 18″, $90; available at Leffot, 10 Christopher St., NYC, (212) 989-4577, leffot.com
