A3C x Tech Series: Jermaine Dupri (@jermainedupri) & James Andrews (@keyinfluencer) Talk Industry

A3C 2013 is nothing short of diverse in the amount of events you’ll be able to attend this year. From Films to the obvious hailed stage performances, to the producer expo at SAE and the discussion panels at Melia, there is never a dull moment or even one lacking networking and music education opportunities. To prove this, A3C opened up the event with a panel about the overlap in music and technology. It was hosted by James Andrews and featured Jermaine Dupri in all his rawness discussing topics such as ghetto analytics, the Kanye interview, artists on youtube, 360 deals, album leaks, and more.

  1. @JD Great talk here. What you said about labels not using Facebook properly, you can say the same thing about Youtube. I never understand why when these Youtube base artists, that get signed by a major before they really have a sizeable fanbase, stop doing Youtube? After their project is release, the first thing they do is run back to Youtube. At that point, outside of their hardcore fans most of their casual fans have moved on. The artists that only have Youtube, they kept their fanbase up and they’re the ones I see now going on tours and release new projects and doing decent sales for an independent artists.

The funny thing is niggas be paying made money to get on radio and WorldStarHipHop and they would get more bang for the buck out Youtube Promote your video option. On Youtube you can say I only want this video ad to play for people in Atlanta. You can pick a city, county, state, country, age and demographic and keywords and put your music video for the ad get the same repetitive impact that getting play on the radio. I know most of us know some of these Youtube ads by heart after a freaking day.

  2. Thanks JD for this post! It’s truly encouraging because I have that, I’m always seeking, analyzing, trying to know. I also look at the state of the industry from the numerical aspects and I am grateful for the technology, for the new opportunities and always analyzing and trying to put in perspective how one can inspire sales, how you can get various demographics to purchase. I have a true love for music and many of us that feel that way won’t let it go. Yes, there will be new approaches and yes integration with other entertainment entities, the digital world and other worlds are necessary but music is going to always exist (well if I have a say so 🙂 ). I just want to make the money, aid my artist in making the money but also make sure that their artistic truism is protected and the culture is entertained and inspired.
