Los Angeles County district attorney Jackie Lacey has charged Marion “Suge” Knight with murder and other counts following a fatal hit-and-run in a Compton parking lot last week.

Kight, 49, is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Compton and is currently being held without bail, as he was deemed a flight risk.

The incident occurred last Thursday at a promotional shoot for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton when, following an altercation, Knight allegedly ran over two men standing in the parking lot with his truck. One of the men — actor Terry Carter — was killed, and the driver fled the scene.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Division is currently investigating the case.

Knight was out on bail in a separate robbery case from last year. He is charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of hit-and-run with an allegation that he committed a serious and violent felony while out on bail in another pending case.

The District Attorney’s complaint also includes use of a deadly weapon and causing great bodily injury allegations. With Knight’s prior convictions, this is a third strike case.
