Quincy Jones slams new Michael Jackson album ‘Xscape’: ‘Everybody’s after money’

That new Michael Jackson album? According to producer Quincy Jones, it can beat it.

Jones, who worked with Jackson on a slew of hits including “Billie Jean,” “Thriller,” and “Bad,” spoke about the posthumous album “Xscape” during an interview on Canadian radio show “Q with Jian Ghomeshi.”

“They’re trying to make money,” Jones said about the new album. “And I understand it.”

“Everybody’s after money, the estate, the lawyers. It’s about money,” Jones said. “It’s not my business anymore.”

Jones also spoke about working on bestselling album “Thriller” with Jackson, and how he took the lead on the project.

“What am I gonna learn from Michael? I don’t wanna be singing and dancing,” Jones said. “I didn’t ask him about anything. We told him what songs he was gonna sing. A producer has to do that.”

  1. I don’t think it was about the money entirely, it was time for a MJ album. Timbaland did a good job on Chicago, I just think it should have been other producer’s involve with the process, my opinion .I’d put me down lol seriously. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis , Dupri & Cox, Teddy Riley or Pharrell & Chad. Speaking of Neptunes, The Happy song is Historical but I think they need to plug the Korg Triton back up and bring back there signature sound. Neptunes , Dupri & Coxs need to work on Kelis next album , wasn’t feeling that food album. I hate to see talented fade out, it’s frustrating
