  1. Yea this was a good discussion and like they said at some point in his career and even now, he does deserve a XXL cover

  2. Also in the discussion the “target audience” was brought up. Yes, before Bow Wow’s audience was the younger crowd, but now that crowd has grown up and will be the reason if XXL stays alive or not. Even him signing with Cash Money should have at least for him a cover along with him having success in both the music industry and movies

  3. Everything the guy was saying is simply based off of how he sees Bow now. Does Bow need XXL to solidify him? No! Should he have been given the cover at some point, YES! Is it because in rap he took the “LLCoolJ” route that he is not deserving? Heck he saying because Bow has transcended rap he should not even want the cover, it’s like a scripture Christ says “A prophet is not honored in his own town”..Heck 50, has transcended rap…but putting Soulja on the cover & justifying it by saying he didn’t grow up in front of us is ludicrous. Maybe if Bow Wow had no longevity & his story stayed in tabloids this would not be an issue.
I just want Bow to cater to his CORE cans like Monica & others are finally back too..and surpass Will Smith!

  4. Man this dude is trippin….Bow Wow should have been on a XXL cover…Soulja Boy doesn’t have anything on BowWow…this done pissed me off…lol

  5. I completely AGREE . I always felt like bow should have had a xxl cover period. Some people act like the source and xxl dont sell to the same demographic. Old boys main argument was that since bow wow supposedly isnt *street* enough he doesnt need a cover. But just like he said bow has transcedent in the hip hop game to movies and such . but that is just enhancing the argument as to why he deserves a cover. I love drake. im probably one of the biggest drake fans i know of. But drake is no where near *street* but he keeps it real and that is what got him a cover. The same goes for bow he definitely keeps it real. But beyond that his acheivements speak for itself. Everyone knows that if you have made a mark on hip hop in a big way you will get a xxl cover period. So for them to put Soulja boy of all ppl on there before bow. SMH ..something aint right. HE has been in the game for 10 YEARS!!! 10! and he is only 24!! are you kidding me!! SMH something aint right.

  6. plz forgive my typos.lol i was pissed..still am..lol

  7. HE IS REALLY ANNOYING ME! BOW WOW DESERVES MORE CREDIT THAN WHAT HE’S GIVEN NOW!! BOW WOW HAS OUT MORE THAN 6 CDS BUT CANT GET CREDIT? PPL NOW DAYS CAN’T EVEN HIT 3 ALBUMS .. SO TELL THAT DUM BOY GO DO RESEARCH BEFORE TALKING. HE’LL LOOK LESS IGNORANT!!!

  8. would we be having this discussion even the SOurce didnt go away the way it did?

  9. How can this dude say that B.E.Peas will never be on the cover of XXL? Does he work for the magazine to know what’s best for it? The industry changes and social media will slightly (sometimes drastically) change with it). Whatever Bow Wow does, his fans will support it to the fullest….so XXL will sell with him on the cover just from his core followers alone! It is funny how he quickly changed the focus when asked about S.Boy….SMDH!!!

  10. Like I said on Twitter:
@LTLline Havin Bow on the cover would not motivate me to buy XXL, I read XXL but I am not in Bow’s demographic market.

@LTLline I don’t subscribe to XXL, but the copies I do buy are centered more around the “hard core”/”street” artists

Are you more disturbed by the fact that Bow never had a cover, or the fact that his lack of being on the cover means that XXL thinks he is not affecting their target audience (folks who like “hard core/street” rap?

I buy magazines that have information that I don’t know… I think Bow’s whole life story has been told in the media 5 times over. I would not buy any magazine unless it has info in it that is new to me.

  11. …surprised the 2 Heavy Hitters in the room didn’t have much to say. Bow Wow needs another ‘Fresh Azimiz’

  12. Bullshit, plain and simple. @lowkeyUHTN is my dude but he’s dead wrong. He kept changing the argument to fit why Bow shouldn’t be on the cover. Hardcore? Souja is hardcore? Fuckouttahere (Ed Lover voice) Bow should get the cover for the Love/Hate issue alone. Bow Wow is hiphop plain and simple. Let any other rap nigga get on Entourage and watch how much we celebrate him. It’s like hiphop hates people doin stuff the right way. Don’t trip Bow, fuck XXL, keep grindin.

  13. Really Bow Wow should have cover if Soulja has a cover. Put him Snoop, JD and Lil Wayne on a cover.

  14. hell nall for what? i dont even think soulja boy should’ve been on it either

  15. look if soulja boy can get a magazine cover then bow should be on there another 3 times. bow has talent soulja…mmmmmm nope! also did soulja only get the cover because of curtis. he seems to be the only person that has that guys back. remember when bow and soulja was beefin over silly stuff i wanted bow to do a track just to show how corny soulja boy is. that never happened. i think it is really important to bow personally to get the cover on xxl, but at the end of the day both he and his fans know how good he is. there are plenty of great artist that dont get covers and i truely believe soulja is on there cuz of 50. pretty boy swagg is not hood/street gtfoh

  16. man who is this clown he made 0 valid points n made no comment about soulja boy then he kept saying source this source that n XXL n source hhave the same kinda people on the cover C’mon Son!!!! get the fuck outta here wit that bullshit

  17. Point Blank: Bow Wow should have been on the cover at some point in his career, especially growing up. It would have looked good to show Bow & like Snoop or Bow & JD on the cover to show how they helped in his career & life. In fact, it would be even better to have him on here now because of EVERYTHING he’s accomplished, he may not be “street” but like Margo said in her comment above, Bow was/is like the new LL Cool J (which Bow has said multiple times is one of his idols). Soulja Boy has lesser rap skills than Bow, he only has great dance songs & the power of the internet & media. I wouldn’t be mad if there was a cover with both Bow & Soulja just to show them being young rappers in the game starting to take over or something. But overall, Bow deserves a XXL Cover but with the success he’s having career wise, I wouldn’t sweat it if I was Bow.

  18. he didnt answer and thats frustrating. it seems like hate. just as long as you and bow aint on the cover lookin gay like 50 and soulja im good.

  19. I think most people look at it this way. Soulja Boy basically made himself, did his own beats, marketed his ringtones, made songs that were tailored to kids his age that caught on to adults. People see him as a brand. When Bow Wow debuted, social networking was anywhere near where it is today. Now with Bow Wow, people tend to focus on the fact that he came out young, had A LOT of hits that were geared towards young women and caught a “big break” as they call in it Hollywood with various movie roles and a guest star on “Entourage.” So now I ask you this, how many ADULTS rocked with and LOVED “Outta My System?” If that isn’t a sign of musical growth and actual maturity, then I don’t know what to tell you. All of this will only give him fuel to become the best, because once upon a time, there was a rapper that came out at a young age and people thought he’d be a gimmick, but this rapper grew up to become LIL’ WAYNE.

  20. I wish i could like comments on here so bad. Jazen you are so right!! LOVE IT!

  21. @ Jazen Good point… I couldn’t have said it better myself

  22. I thought I was gonna have to be the voice of reason, until I saw the homie Jazen’s comment. Let me answer the whole souljah boy vs. bow wow debate on who deserves a cover. No one can deny that Bow Wow is an amazing talent. As much as I hate when he tries so hard to be something that he is not, he has attained a level of success that most people die trying to accomplish. So Kudos for that..but when it comes to HIP HOP, there’s not much you can say that he did for the culture of Hip Hop that is really memorable. Yeah people say that he did what LL did years ago, but let’s not forget that LL was a true battle rapper. He had some joints that transcended beyond is core audience. And the thing about LL, he never compromised who he was for the sake of trying to please people. And I think You are finding that with Bow Wow. I think he feels that in order for him to get the respect he is yearning for as an MC, he has to get all hardcore and and that shit is unnecessary. All of the cursing in the interviews and things like that, homie needs to relax. It’s making it that much harder for him to get the respect because it looks like he is trying too hard.

But back to the cover issue. Souljah Boy, hate him or love him, has set a new standard in how hip hop artists conduct themselves when it comes to keeping themselves relevant it today’s day and age. This guy is a MOVEMENT in himself. Social networking, ringtones, beat-making, when you look at this kid, he is the quintessential trendsetter of Hip Hop. Yeah, he is by far the worst MC ever to touch a Mic, but he speaks to the youth in a way that Bow Wow was never able to do. Everything about Bow Wow, you can see a piece of another artist in him, LL, Wayne, Snoop..etc. You can’t say the same about SB. Most people who have graced the cover has done something in a way that has TOUCHED Hip Hop, across the board, not with just one particular core audience. And there were also some things that Bow Wow brought on himself to make him look phony…trying to diss Will Smith, trying to get his bodyguard to beat up Toure from BET…etc. At the end of the day, the best thing for him to do is KEEP DOING HIM. he doesn’t have to feel a way because a magazine didn’t validate his ego by giving him a cover. This kid is a multi millionaire who has a solid actign career and makes good music. Stick to that and you will outlast all of your competitors. But don’t try to be something ur not lil homie! Hip Hop heads are like dogs, and we can smell when something aint right. They sniff that shit out and call him out on it, and whe will find himself in this position, 5 years from now with the same argument.

Keep doing ya thing Bow Wow!

  23. BOW is dope. The guyz are seriously pissing me off. Dude is not a kid anymore. He is a dope ass young Adult rapper. People are so damn narrow minded.

  24. JD WHY DA FUCK PEOPLE TALK ABOUT HIP HOP IF THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IS HIP HOP….JUSS LIKE IN BET TOP 10 NIGGAS DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK DEY WAS CHOOSING!!!!! BOW WOW IS HIP HOP …HE WENT ON TOUR WIT DRE AND SNOOP DOGG AT FUCKEN AGE OF 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7 FUCKEN ALBUMS!!!!! BACK TO BACK SOLD OUT TOURS! BACK TO BACK HITS!!! I GREW UP WIT BOW WOW MUSIC I STILL HAVE HIS VINYL OF “WHATS MY NAME” THE ORANGE COVER YEE SOULJA BOY CANNOT TOUCH BOW WOW NEVER THAT BEEF WASNT BEEF… PEOPLE FUCKEN GO AT HIM CUS HE HAD PEOPLE WRITE COUPLE OF HIS SONGS SO WHAT!!!!…. EVERY SONG HAS WRITERS DAT DONT SING OR RAP ON THE RECORD! FABOLOUS NELLY AND BOW WOW WILL MURDER WHOLE BUNCH OF THESE SO CALL “RAPPERS” … NIGGAS DO RAP FOR DIFFERENT REASONS…. THE MENTALITY IS DIFFERENT NOW … NIGGGAS U USED TO RAP AND FLOW FOR FUN FOR THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC NOW IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND JEWELS … I DONT WANT TO DROP ANY NAMES BUT LIKE MY NIGGA J COLE SAID ” HOW MANY NIGGAS WE KNOW WITH HELLA ICE, BUT YET THEY ARE SO LAME” …..

  25. back when Bow begin during his teen years 12-16 or so No …why not that he hasnt put in the work but just Thats 2 different audiences…I think it wouldve been a gamble for XXL and his label ..Its not him being on the cover its the bar that XXL magazine is on so back then you couldn’t have him on the cover and the inside is all types of Derogatory LANGUAGE,SEXUAL PHOTOS,CHAT LINE ADS etc…Not knocking XXL because I have plenty issues but thats their Magazine n they knew what they present..

Now between his adult year then Yes even if he wasn’t “Hot ” at the time or now he shld get some recognition for what hes done.

  26. BOW is consistent PERIOD! I’m not going to spend too much time on this because no need in repeating what was already said.

BOW WOW SHOULD JUST BUY XXL AND PUT HIS SELF ON THE COVER…NOW THAT’S XXL!!! That’s that LIFER SH*T! HOW MANY RAPPERS “REALLY” GOT MONEY LIKE THAT???

  27. First off I’m really happy there were no Bow Wow haters in here because the would of have a field day with this conversation…But I completely agree with everyones opinions in here. I am a very big Bow Wow fan and I’m damn near 29 y/o. I have been saying for years that he has never been given the respect he deserves in the hip-hop game. Many people look down on him because he’s not “hard” or “street” but that shouldn’t mean anything to real hip-hop lovers. I always believed Bow should have been on the cover of XXL at some point…but llike I said I appreciate all the real opinions in these comments, I’m tired of reading stupid ignorant comments that make no sense and don’t actually have a point…

  28. Ah I still havent heard the answer to why Soulja got a cover of the Mag and not Bow. Also why is it apples and oranges to compare the two of them. Bow is a quality artist Soulja is crap end of story!

  29. I say Bowwow should because he was the one who opened the door for a lot of younger kids in the business today . He has a story that every aspiring young rapper or singer should hear . It NEEDS to be told . At the same time , people must have an open mind to the new Bowwow . It’s true that he is not Lil Bowwow anymore . He is Bowwow . As music lovers , we must keep an open mind especially to an artist like Bowwow. Now Soulja Boy I feel should not have been on the cover before Bowwow because I feel like he has a lot to prove . Yes he can make mean beats . As an artist , he lacks big time . Yes making stupid songs like “Hey You There” & “Pretty Boy Swagg” got him money . But which one is more important :: RESPECT as an artist or MONEY ?

  30. I feel like that guy was very closed minded point blank period. Bow Wow should’ve been offered a cover on XXL plenty of times because not only like the lady said he was iconic but he also as a young kid rapper/actor was known for his drive to succeed as a young man. Back then you didn’t see alot of kids do what Bow did in the music industry as well as show that he had the talent to act as well because with that he crossed over so what artist did you know then and even now become a rapper and cross over and become an actor as quickly and successfully as Bow?? I think it isnt fair that he hasnt been offered a cover because he truely deserves it and the years that he has put into this business is definately one to acknowledge and give recognition. With Soulja Boy…What can I say?? I don’t believe he is whats “hot” right now but I can say that he is one of the few people that people have their attention on so I guess thats why he got the cover but musically…hmmmm I think these magazines should rethink who they put on covers and do their research like they should.

  31. it’s crazy how all 3 of the dudes seem like they was against bow for the simple fact that he is Bow wow. if they were to forget it was bow and they jus simply checked that man’s stats and the way he came thru and changed the game he would’ve graced the cover of XXL a long time ago. plus that Dude was flip-floppin every other sentance. first he gonna say Bow dont deserve a XXL cover cuz his music wasnt classic, then dude got the nerve to say that bow wow deserves sumthin much higher than a XXL cover. which one is it??? There are so many ppl on the cover of XXL that havent done half as much as bow. prime example that soulja boy and 50 cent cover…WTF WAS THAT ABOUT? SUM FAKE ASS BEEF?? im not takin nuthin from 50 but c’mon now why soulja boy?…ppl are gonna have to get over that lil bow wow shit. he still doin his thing and he damn near 24. a lot of ppl his age got bout 3 kids by now.
