  1. 12yrs….I would have taken his advice…moved on…and stay committed to that decision. Nothing like your 1st love, but that’s what make it special, the ability to want them to be happy, with or without you.

  2. I swear I cried today when I saw this video. It was soooo touching. The sound was perfect with the imagery.

  3. EXCELLENT!!! Monica Still Standing (OVATION)…. I purchased this CD the first day it came out. This is my favorite song on the CD and the video just brings it that much more alive….WOW. Usher is my favorite male singer and his is awesome also. Waiting now for Dondria’s to be released in August. The snippets sounded good. JD, you are a very talented young man.

  8. First let me say that Mo is GORGEOUS in this video! I love her! And love how they’re playing “Miss Thang” album opening up the video.

    Looking at how this played out in the video, I would stay with the current and proceed with my life. BUT, I would’ve communicated to the ex that I’ve moved on long before the engagement (once I knew that I fell in love with someone else) so he wouldn’t expect for things to go back to the way they were before he went in.

    I have to say that touched my heart and got me emotional lol. Monica looked so beautiful in that video love the colorful dress!

    as for the video that was her first love but you grow, you get older and 12 years apart I have to say I would have moved on I understand he went in but thats too long clearly in the video she moved on, she’s about to get married. I would keep it moving, BUT also not be rude and let him know we can be friends but never in a relationship again.

    Your first love, and someone who you were deeply in love with will always have a place in your heart
    no matter who comes along but once your done and then you are apart for a little while then you try to reconnect I don’t think it would be the same as before IMO for some it may be different though IDK

    This song and believing in me are my two favorite songs off this album I think believing in me should be the next single !

    Oh goodness….like everybody else is saying 15 years is a mighty long time & I agree with what PrincessAshleyJ was saying (heyyy gurl =D)…BUT….the sap in me wants 2 say I’d try and see what could possibly be again with the old love.
    The way the video played out it was obvious that she still has feelings for him & I wouldn’t be able to marry someone else without having full control of my emotions because how would that be fair to him??? True things change and people change but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and why should anyone fight that just because it’s not new??? It’s not like he did her dirty or anything like that & she did tell him at the beginning that she wanted to wait for him.
    Like I said….OH GOODNESS!!!!…..IDK….but yeah, Imma stick with what I said….bye,bye Shannon…time for her & Maino to reconnect 🙂

  14. I love love love Monica!!! She has ALWAYS been one of my favorite singers! Her voice on this song is beautiful, and she looks absolutely gorgeous in the video. As for who she should pick, I’m going with Shannon. Plus, 10-15 years is a LONG time. Things change & people change.

  19. Even though I am all for that new love, the look in your eyes when that first love comes back around is priceless. In your heart while you know you love the next man in some sort of way you will never give all of yourself to him like you did the first man…. So I say before you marry the new love you need to make sure thats truely love and not a bandage to pacify what you really want back with the old love… SO I SAY GO MAINO

  20. JD I have every Monica cd on my Ipod and her music is listened to daily. She should go with the new love because she has has time to heal form the old hurts of being without the old love. I voted on her website for the new love.
    I would also choose the new love because in those 15 years (1995-2010) I have grown into a woman and I have really dealt with a lot of the bad decisions I have made in the past and I am able to make better choices when it comes to men. When I was young I thought being with a thug was cute, but now I know that with age and wisdom a more situated and established man is more my speed. I enjoy the simple things now spending time with family and traveling, most thugs are just hood bound. I also want to say you guys did a fantastic job with the lyrics and the melody and now the visual of the video a perfect compliment.

That’s a tough call, in ’95 your heart was with the first guy and love will have to do crazy things like that and now that 15 years have gone by and you’re with someone else, your heart is with him. You’ll never forget that first love and he’ll forever be in your heart. I would stay with my current love and you’ll treasure those memories but now new memories have been made.

    It seems like a lot of women are saying, they will stick with the new love.
    The same goes for me, but for another reason, other than the 15 years is ‘too long’ story that everyone is stating.
    My reason is: I cannot marry an ex-con!
    I wouldn’t even date anybody involved in any criminal activity! That’s not the kind of person I am!
    Some people may argue that love comes in all shapes and forms, but I honestly wouldn’t even give a guy like that a second look.
    I know this sounds harsh, but it is the truth!

  29. Damn!!! Hard decision but i would have to go with the current love also…15 yeaas good lawd!!! Thats alot to wait for but i will agree with the person that said i would just make sure before we actually tie the knot with the current guy that its really what i want to do deep down on the inside. And for someone to love you enough to just want you to be happy and move on with ur life…is just words that cant be explained…
