Please attend the West Englewood Census Rally, April 1, 2010, in Chicago, Illinois at Sherman Park on the Southside of Chicago. We have requested that 107.5 WGCI’s Morning Riot Show with Tony Sculfield and Leon Rogers assist us with hosting the event, and Power 92.3’s radio host Trey the Choklit Jok. We are still waiting on confirmation from both radio stations, since you and T-Pain will be in town at a concert that evening, we were praying that you would make an appearance at the event and maybe sing one song. We can only assume that you would reach out to help our community, The Lord said “Ask and it shall be given. Knock and the door shall open”. We are at the door and were asking for the opportunity to be let in so our community can thrive.
My name is Norvetta Landon; I’m the co-chair of the West Englewood Census Committee in Chicago Illinois. Our community is made up of low income residents, senior citizens, children, and eager young adults trying to make a change. In order for a change to happen in our community that has been pegged as one of the highest crime rate areas (the under Dog)Our Committee has partnered with the United States 2010 Census to help make a change to our community. We are submitting in on several grants to help obtain financial assistance on building a facility to help the children and young adults in the West Englewood community. We are a 501C3 non for profit organization. We are completing the design stage of a music facility to be placed in the West Englewood community that is lacking SUPPORT. By building the facility it will help support the children and young adults to tunnel there energy into a positive outcome, which will help them build self-esteem, self respect and SUCCESS for our children to be able to overcome a poverty stricken community. The facility will be a support outlet for the youth in the community. During which our seniors and there family will be invited to engage in a musical event performed by the students. This will help to improve the well being of several seniors that have no family or support, in addition to making them happy which will make them live longer. Our goal is to rebuild the West Englewood Community. WE are not on any pay roll; all the long hours of meetings and work have been volunteer time. We have been working at this since November of 09 meeting every week to the current date. I have attached a copy of the event flyer. I pray that you can make this happen. It will be a huge surprise to the community, especially if the radio station announces it over the air. May God continue to Bless you and your family brother in Christ
