TREY SONGZ “BEHIND THE VIDEO”

I would like to see what creative things directors are going to do in light of the video budget decreases. It looks like houses, lofts and open spaces are being used a lot more. But we want to see something new, creative an innovative even on lower budgets. Give us more than just the average “club gathering” or “sex scene”, please.

July 24, 1986-October 15, 2009

Hello, my name is DJ Dagwood and my son’s name is Deonte Williams and on October 15th 2009 at 3 am his life was cut short due to senseless gun violence on the streets of Chicago’s Southside.

My son suffered 2 fatal gun shot wounds that took his life instantly.

He laid there bleeding to death for an hour before paramedics arrived
and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

My son was 23 years old with 2 small children of his own.

This situation as you know is becoming more common is our inner cities across the nation and has been one of my personal fears as a parent.

No one wants to live to see one their children murdered on the street but it’s a nightmare that is becoming more of a reality these days and times.

My son was a good man and he did his best to provide for his family, help others and be a devoted Christian. He had a love for music and the arts and always expressed his interest in going to college for radio broadcasting.

His dreams are now lost but his memory will live in our hearts forever.
My son will be missed but never forgotten.

Unfortunately we were not prepared for this tragedy and my son did not have life insurance. We are trying to raise money to provide Deonte with proper funeral & burial services.

Our total cost for his arrangements are in excess of $6,055

At this time we are reaching out to companies and corporations that may have a Bereavement fund or may be willing to donate money to our cause.

We are presently working with a funeral home that wont accept payments
and its been very hard to raise these funds amongst friends and family members in such a short period of time.

We need to raise this money by Friday, October 25, 2009 and any help would be appreciated at this time.

@ Latifa – Creativity and innovation in music videos is not necessarily about camera tricks and lights and digital equipment. It can come in the form of concept, costume, storytelling, perspective, makeup and other things that don’t cost much. Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” video is a perfect example of doing something different and visually interesting without going going with on the budget.
