  1. For me personally it has affected me in the sense i got laid off my previous job but it was a blessing no the less because i obtained the job i now hold! Also i have noticed a few of the girls i used to kick it with now sliding down pole in the evenings after work to make extra cash!

  2. graduated from college…and still doing odd jobs! so yeah fuck the recession.

  3. Because i watch Suze Orman religiously I’m straight. My other friends have had to cut back and act right with no jobs and no money. I bought a house and a car in the economy…YAY ME! lol

  4. JD thanks for addressing my question to you, i don’t want to jump to conclusions if there was more to ur questions and you stopped me in my tracks. Cleared up and movin on down the road! Much Luv!

Recession…effected me? Not so much other than i may cut back the travel a bit more this year, so i keep my head on straight if it hits me when i’m least expecting it. U never know. Just keep ur head up and carry on.

No, I haven’t needed to sell this skinny ass for nothing yet! LMFAO!!! Although i did order a small pizza 4 lunch and the cutie at the pizza joint upgraded me to a large at no charge….that count? I was a lil flirty! lol

  5. I saw dis old ass white lady wit a lemonaide stand on da corner one day..i was like damn she gotta get dis money sum how..so i fucked wit her and bought a cup from her

  6. It’s been a few setbacks but, with all the skill I posses it was a matter of doing things that I hadn’t done in years. I’ve seen people who seemed to have it all, dumpster diving (looking 4 things 2 recycle). I seen people that appear to be on the up & up, stealing.

  7. I haven’t seen anyone do something stupid in my bumpkin ass town but then again there’s nothing to do here anyway. LOL

This jacked up recession has made it hard for me to get a good decent paying job that goes with my degree. Granted its only an Associates degree but now I have to get a Bachelors to do the same entry-level job. smh After I lost my job in June, I’ve applied for a lot of local jobs that were doing mass hiring in warehousing and I’m still unemployed. Even McD’s (who is hiring) hasn’t even called. But I don’t wanna work there anyway. LOL Living in an Industrial area sucks, especially when most of the plants closed back in the late 80s early 90s. LOL But I get to stay up late and sleep in while Kandi is working her ass off. LOL Hey GURRRL!!! And job fairs are few and too far (90min – 2hr drive one way)… I just wish the unemployment checks were equivalent to what you were making at your last job and not significantly less making it hard to make ends meet. But compared to others…I’m good.

  8. SMH @ DUPRI FOR EVEN RESPONDING 2 THOSE ?’S REGAURDING HIS PERSONAL LIFE…..Now back the program, Lol I have two friends tht was trying sell there eggs for 6500…they found an add on craigs list…I’m not sure if there gonna really go thru with it, but it’s definitely due 2 the recession:-( myself well things can always be worse, so I will not hold yall up with my complaints! Xoxox FatihahbLTL

  9. The recession hasn’t effected me really. I’m a college student who has a job and in the process of getting another one so I can stash some money for a new phone, this bag i want, and tickets to the Eagles vs. Falcons game lol. I was able to buy MY FIRST CAR this year so YAY ME!! But I know some ppl who have it hard these days and it breaks my heart that they have to go through that. Like this one person I know who was working at this computer tech company, he got laid off and now he selling games and notebooks and other tech stuff from his place…LOL. Like ppl out here doing what they got they got to do to make that CASH MONEY!!!

  10. Opps*back 2 the program!

  11. @Kandi thts wassup ma…and Suze kno her shit dont she lmao!!

@AnitaLTL jus continue 2 b proactive…shit will come on thru

4 me i grew up half broke in the hood and there i remain half broke…i wasnt 2 affected bcuz i didnt own a house nor did i have moneys invested in the market…howeva the job i did get with the city was on the slide bcuz of the recession…i wasnt able 2 come in as a full employee…all they gave me was 40 hrs and sum shitty pay 4 the work done…i also had 2 slow down on what i did and where it was…being half broke things dont change quantities do…i still only fill the tank on payday and 20$ the week after no matter how much gas is…i still dont like 2 spend more than 50$ at the market no matter what i bring out…so the recession was jus hard bcuz the quantity of product for my money went down…but now tht the economy has let up i got my raise and my benefits and hopefully a promotion…im lookin 4 a house and im ready 2 save money…but i still fill up on payday and 20$ the nxt week i still dnt like spending more than 50$ at the market…lmao!!

  12. Anita you obviously dont know me well…I dont work harder…i work smarter. LOL I refused to get a 2nd job when money was funny. I would rather get a better 1st job. I have been raising my 2 kids on the salary of someone who makes 25k and i aint made that since 1995. Living below your means is whats up. lol

  13. btw im tryna follow all the “real” LTL fam so u ca add me @biggl48LTL and i ca add u like #BIEM #BIEM

  14. ive seen a lot of females i kno turn to prostitution and strippin or escort services the shit is crazy…it has really hit me cuz i kno how to make shit work

  15. @Kandi i dnt even think its tht…i think its jus not livin above ya means like most ppl in our society…tryna keep up wit the jones’…JD post gucci and Tom Ford on the blog bcuz thts what he likes and can buy bcuz of his success…not cuz he braggin or tht he expects all us 2 wear or buy sum of those things…im diggin ya @Kandi smart woman…big up and a rnd of applause

  16. How has the recession affected me…well, I recently returned to college to finish my degree!! yeah me…Right? but between class and my child. I am left with few job options that are suitable for supporting us and feasable durning my available hours. So with all that being said you shall soon be able to catch me at a strip club near you…preferably Magic City!!!

  17. @Bigg148 I’m gonna accept you as soon as I get home! I can’t do it from my phone.

  18. The only thing that hurt me was the gas prices…bkuz i drove 30 mins to get to school everyday last semester!!….Me and my besties would normally eat Fatz or Zaxbys for lunch then suddenly the $1 menu @mcdonalds became our bestfriend!!..lol Sweet Tea and that chicken sandwich did me justice. I graduated in May and i had a job before i graduated so my main issue was GAS & I had to stop splurging on my “must haves” as before!! So in all actuality the recession has taught me responsibility and For all interested the military is HIRING…guranteed $$ 1 and 15th of every month!! Smooches*

  19. LMFAO @kandi Gurl I was clown’n ya…thought u knew. 😛 But I don’t have any means to live above. LOL Never did or will. I had to move back home right after I finished school in Atlanta because my roommate lost his job and there was no way we were going to be able to continue renting the house we had so homeward bound I was and off to another state he was. But the piddly jobs I’ve had, including my last one, just don’t pay enough to cover any type of living expenses here. City prices for country living. smh Just pissed that all that money for my degree is going to waste as well as the experience. But I’m only in my 3rd month of unemployment so compared to others I’m still good. As long as I have money for my truck, I’m good too.

  20. Man, this is a hard question. What is a recession anyways? But anyways, since I’m seeing that it has to do with a job, than i will response. Well, my first job was when I was 15 about to be 16 years old in 2 days, I was getting paid miminum wage. Every hour I get paid 6 dollars and 25 sents, in 2 weeks I earn about 300 something dollars. I use to work at Taco Bell, my bad, Taco HELL!!! I was treated like an outsider only because I was the only nigga out of the haspanics working there, so is my sister, which my sister hock me up with the job to begin with. Everyone in the job had one thing to do rather if it’s cashier, making pizzas, frying tocos, washing dishes, or cleaning the tables and floors, or cleaning shit off the bathroom floor. I had to do all that shit. I wanted to cuss out that manager man, he slaved me into doing everything that he asked me to do. I cried every fucking day. I finally stand up for myself and I said I quit. I did cashier, I stole 5 bucks, and he knew 5 dollars was missing, so he accused me, and I was like NOOOOOOOO! I can count money, i’m not a retard. DO’OH! But yeah, he believed me, I don’t give a shit you know. I ate every food that there and I hide in the freezer to eat it, that’s the best part about it. But yeah, when I did quit, that’s when my mom and dad was so mad at me, they wanted me to work so I can help pay their rent and shit. I’m like let me be a kid man!!! I had friends that sold drugs which a few of their drug dealer friends gave us the helping hand, and I help sell some drugs which them drugs were made from them and was stoling. Like It’s werd, people grow weed and marijuanna in their backward. But anyways, I made good money doing that shit, even though I didn’t know it was a bad thing until now. But yeah, since im a girl, I never get caught selling drugs. I stop selling drugs when my homeboy got caught and was sentence in jail for 15 years. Like man, I get scared of police mans. So I desided not to drop out of school cause without a degree, it’s gonna be extremely hardto get a good paying job, and it’s hard to even live another day. So now that i’m in college, I’m doing ok, I’m getting C’s and shit, but really, college isn’t in my interest. I have dreams that I want to come true because I’m 21 and I ain’t gonna start at a old ass age. Like I don’t know how to make it into the music industry, it’s harder than I thought it would be. I just don’t know how to start.

  21. This state of our economy has effected me directly and indirectly. I work for the government and i was furloughed. ( days off without pay.) I am now Part-time job searching. Well for indirectly. I do less shopping, cutting cost everywhere possible, and no out of town vacations, dining out at my favorite restaurants have stop, shit my lifestyle has changed. All work and no recreation…

    I need a Sugar Daddy…..Calling all SugarDaddies … dial XXX-XXX-XXXX L.o.L.

On the real, the trouble with our economy has directly effected me because my income has decreased. So, this left me no other choice but to make changes in how I spend, so I can provide the neccessities for my family and I.

JD Great,,, Talk to Me Topic. Keep them coming.

  22. I mean, i saw lil mama jump on stage like it was all gravy thinkin that maybe her career could be resurrected. lmfao, nah j/k.

  23. I donate plasma twice a week…I don’t fuck with needles but i fucks with money.

  24. When you see people on bread lines that is when its bad. Everyone shit is not that bad yet. In the USA we just don´t know how to do without bullshit that you really don´t need, i really hope people are learning from this shit…

  25. Im not going to lie the recession has effected many to include myself. Las year I relocated to NYC to attend Parsons The New School to study fashion. I am now unable to attend and will be moving temporarily to Oklahoma with my beautiful wife and three children. I made this move to obtain a degree so that I will eventually be able to get into a position that will better the future for my children. The difference between me and many but not all others is Im not discouraged about any of this. Obstacles are like steroids, they make me stronger and more focused on the end results. I can, I will and its going to happen in my lifetime for my life and my family. I have not given up on fashion or NYC. I believe that God has purposed it in me to achieve great things both in fashion and this world, it just might have to be gone about another way but I will make my mark.

To everyone dont give up dont give in for its not over, you can have that house, that business, the family the career, car or what ever it is that your situation and circumstances at the current time are telling you, you cant. Press through stay focused continue to grind and in time you will see and have to fruits of your labor.

  26. Ummm @Nakita^^^ where do u live?? Just wondering since you don’t no wht a recession is :s

  27. how much ima have 2 give u to listen 2 my cd?………..college park on deck..lets do it!!! @readyroc1821

  28. Hasn’t affected me personally bc I have a secure job but I have seen ppl close to me be laid off and told that the company was downsizing therefore their position is discontinued. My mother was told that her position wasn’t necessary anymore while she didn’t lose her job she was demoted and told she can’t get raises until the other ppl in her position catch up to her salary. Overall the recession hasn’t limited our daily routines, we live no differently although we save more now for rainy days.

  29. I’m just careful with the money I spend now I still spend money but I try to minimize

  30. Wait, what? JD answered ?’s! Where?! Sorry to be all up in your BI, JD. I don’t ask personal questions because I don’t like it done to me, but if you’re telling I’m listening.

To the question, I never liked working for anyone else. The recession has been a great motivator for me to get a business started. I hate working for other. I just got out of graduate school, with loans and I’m not cool with looking over my shoulder at work.

My heart goes out to those of you who have been negatively affected by the recession. It’s a jungle out there.

  31. LMFAO @ BoozABadMickey smh Crazy ass!!!

@Nakita…what are you studying aka what is your major?

  32. I haven’t personally experienced any hardships from the recession yet but I have close relatives who are struggling and that is heartwrenching enough. I wish there was something that I could do to help but I have my immediate family obligations to worry about; I am currently taking care of my mom while she’s unemployed and I am a single mother of a 6 yr old lil prince 🙂 who is very high damn maintenance lol. I’ve cut back on traveling, dining out all the time, and shopping…just in case.

  33. Yes the recession has affected me and lots of people I Know. I am a owner/operator of a 18 wheeler and I just reached half of my total gross from last year. Some of my partners have had to let cars go back. I haven’t really seen anybody doing things out of the ordinary just not doing the usual outings.

  34. I honestly haven’t been impacted directly. I make six figures, and I still received a bonus and a raise. I’m single without children, so my expenses are relatively low. I moved from a big city, to a small town, so the cost of living is cheap. Now, I would have pushed for a bigger raise, but I understand the zeitgest, so…I can’t complain. I do have relatives that were laid off, and a few that have been out of work for several months. It’s hard, and I’ve been trying to help them find work. I thank God for the safety that my career provides, and I realize that anything could change that.

  35. Hmm this recession has affected me directly because I recently graduated with 2 degrees and now I have no steady income to pay back my student loans. After graduation I had to move back in with my parents because I couldn’t afford my place anymore. Some of my former classmates have taken to working at strip clubs to pay back on their loans and other misc. bills. It makes me really sad that my friends have to strip in order to have some income. Like WTF?! It takes skills to strip, not brains therefore they could’ve just saved time and money by stripping in the first place. I guess I should be happy that I only have one major bill which is my student loan but hell. the collectors call everyday as though I don’t know I owe them money. Umm hello, I guess they don’t watch the news and see that it’s rough out here and folks are not hiring!!

  36. Hey JD this is Kidz in da Biz, we been working real hard performing for the protege magizine showcase. We’ve got your response on twitter lets talk about it.Here’s our contact info 1-(804)-433-7201 or
    1(804)-267-9626 CALL US!

  37. working in the banking industry….People are strapped and not by no little bit either…people losing cars, homes, people making risky move with their finances…(and the bank I work at they tried to help you keep it at least) but people really really lived beyond there means….it crazy… people start feeling safe and just start buying junk….people rolling in with the latest cars and clothes broke broke and more broke… the one thing that really change is the white folks are really feeling the heat….they seem more worst off than the black folks I guess black folks used to being poor and no how to survive I guess

  38. Well.,Well.,Well.,Whats up family?!!!!

The recession hasnt affected me but it has some of my co-workers. The company I work for cut 3 programs due to grants being cut. So that left over 20 ppl unemployed.,.,One of my co-workers that I talk to on a regular has become Girl 6 (phone sex operator). She has been applying for jobs consistantly but no company will hire her. She has over 8 years experience in the Human Service field and not one non-profit agency will hire her. She’s even applied out of state but has had no luck. She has a family that she has to provide for and she did what she had to do. At first she was inviting ppl to her ass for a price to make sure her kids had food on the table and now she’s Girl 6. I don’t knock her at all she has kids to feed, rent to pay, and a gas and light bill. I help her out as well being that she is my friend. She is still looking for better employment but for now she will breath real heavy into a phone and make men explode!!!.,LMFAO!!!!

  39. Recession?? We are in a recession??

  40. i remember when i use to throw it in the bag..now im checkn prices on all the tags..LOLOL=-) But really it has affected my family in many ways..from living conditions to my childrens participation in sports. We have had to cut down on so much. Its def taught me a lesson in MONEY management & learning from my mistakes…it wont get me next time..lololol
I am very BLESSED to have a STRONG family. My children have been GREAT & very understanding. They have learned that u could have it all..however its the LOVE u give & recieve that makes it all worth while. The have learn to appreciate more & never take anything for granted. So i guess in a strange way its been a GOOD/bad situation…howerver, i am def ready for it to be over!

  41. Also JD since I know you REALLY read these comments.,Thank you for just being real!!

,I look 4ward to laughing coming to this site and reading the comments on the topics. Although we may argue and have a difference of opinion,.,I look 4ward to reading what ppl have to say.,some have been mind altering in a positive way.,.,you have brought ppl together from different walks of life just by inviting us into your world on G14. Thank You.

  42. oh i did know this lady who had a 9-5. She had 3 children, a home, & a car (nothing extravagant). When she got off work, she would dress herself & the children down (so they would look grungy) & stand in front of the markets begging for money…i thght she was playn until i saw it with my own eyes. I dont knock her she had no support from her ex & all she was tryn to do is provide for her family. Im not sure where they r now..but shes one of those moms that definately put her children first..by any means necessary.

  43. This recession has really effected those with a record. My husband has a record and when his company folded (after he was with them for over 7 years) it has been difficult for him to find permanent employment. However, God has shown us favor… we havent really had to change our lifestyle very much. We just don’t lend out money like we use to. 🙂 God Bless Everyone that has truly had to change their lives and living situations by this recession… My Advice: Praise the Lord in Advance & Trust that that he will change your situation!

  44. I lost my job about eight months ago and it was hard there for a while. I’m not going to lie I’ve dun something’s that I’m not to proud of to just pay my bills. I would never imagine in a million years I would have to resort to what I was doing; now it doesn’t seem that bad. I’m living a comfortable life my bills are getting payed and I get every thing I want.

  45. Recession got a nigga fucked up. That’s all I got to say about it.

  46. Divorces/Break ups right now have to be in the all time high!! In my line of work thats all I see.. and most of the complaints is about money… Not to look @ the big picture @ hand that EVERYONE is tryin to do what they got too do.. @ least if ur going thru sh!t u’d wanna have someone by ur side…

Personally I’ve seen people who have boats, cars, houses… Selling what they can to keep what they have… Filing for bankruptcy b/c they have too much on there plate.. and are struggling..

My advice to keep some sanity…. Take care of “home and family” first…. “well being” second… “wants” last!! LOL I’m sure it will all pass… *crosses fingers* 🙂

  47. THE RECESSION IS A STATE OF MIND!!! GET DOWN!! (James Brown voice)

  48. JD JD JD

THIS RECESSION IS HITTING ME BAD PERSONALLY. I JUST GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE IN DECEMBER AND I CAN NOT FIND MUCH OF NOTHING. I HAVE A PART TIME JOB RIGHT NOW BUT TO SUPPORT A CHILD THAT IS NOT GONNA TAKE ME VERY FAR. AND ON TOP THAT, I AM A SINGLE PARENT, I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND WE ARE BARELY GETTING BY. I HAVE TO GET GOVERNMENT ASSIST JUST FOR US TO MAKE IT. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE I WORKED SO HARD TO GRADUATE AND I HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. ITS JUST REALLY BAD MAN. I PRAY EVERY NIGHT THAT THINGS GET BETTER. BUT THAT’S WHY I CAN APPRECIATE YOU LIVING THE LIFE SERIES AND YOUR BLOG BECAUSE IT KIND GIVES ME A SECOND TO DREAM ABOUT WHAT MY LIFE COULD BE LIKE. SO THANKS FOR THAT. SORRY FOR GETTING SO DEEP LIFERS THIS IS JUST A TOUCHY SUBJECT.

  49. @314to407 I saw a show where a couple divorced but they still remained in the same house because neither one could afford to live on their own. Just sad…

@Ms. Kay-J We all fam hurr gurl. Plus I watch the LTL series for the same reason. LOL

  50. Damn I’m always late! The recession has effected me by enlightening my sense of wastefulness. I watch all expiration dates, and use the sh*t before it goes bad. I spend more wisely- 2 for 1 deals, mail- in rebates, store MVP cards, and buy in bulk. Certain store brands taste just as good as the more expensive sh*t, if you have the right skills in the kitchen (lol). But I stay more aware of where my cash is really going these days. No more talking on the phone in the checkout line, b/c I’m watching the scanner and peepin my receipt when its handed to me. I also have become a lot more respectful. I say thank you all the time, to the people who I feel got to really be struggling. The grocery baggers, parking attendants, and front desk associates who are makin less but have the same expenses. Its real and I have stopped, to take notice and do my part.

Now as for doing things for money that I never imagined……please trickin been around for decades. They have just increased the stakes. I’ve imagined a lot, and now its really happening. Coochie for cash is in full effect, b/c they need that money to take care of a lot more sh*t. Daycare, healthcare and car insurance are some major ones. Before these expenses were part of the perks, but now they are a package deal. Gas got so high that it became a prerequisite. But if there are sellers then there damn sure are gonna be buyers. The power of the pussy could fix this economy, if the right chic sucked the right Republicans dick. The politicians already outsourcing to other countries for coochie, so damn in house this sh*t and pass the bill. The healthcare bill would sail thru Congress as fast as Jay Z sells concert tickets. Believe that! Its crazy out here and definitely not a game!!!!

  51. lol it dnt affect me no way..i still qet my swaqq on..dis dat swaqq fku u feel me,,im str8 sick out here..lol but alot of ppl are savinq crzy and thts qood they should b..but i kno our president is doinq wht he can

  52. i live in canada, calgary alberta and it has affected a lot people some of my cus got laid off as for me my hours got cuts so i quit i don’t need a job i want one but don’t need i just like to sing all day. a lot are spending like they use to like jay z is coming here alot people are like i can’t 150 is too much when it’s not really

  53. yeah i had a fine ass white girl (Big ass and thick thighs) fuck me. At first it was suppose to be just topless a massage because she needed the money(her did not know about that), but i started calling her and asking her if she needed anything. Her man could not pay the bills and was all ways broke. Her man actually got a hit record on the radio right now. They still could not pay the bills. she started out just wanting to do topless massage. she was suppose to meet me once a week for the massage, But she was a fine ass white girl (Big ass thick Thighs). I wanted that. So i started calling her and telling and asking her how was the bills? she told me that everything was late. So i told her ” I got you”. she been with this dude for some years. she love the shit out of this dude. she had not fucked another man in over 5 years since she been with him. Eventually, She gave me the pussy. all that happen because of the “RECESSION” AND REMEMBER- HER MAN HAS A HIT RECORD ON THE RADIO RIGHT NOW!!!
AND THEY ARE STILL BROKE. MOST RAPPERS ARE NOT RICH RAPPERS.

  54. @Fatihah I’m from Miami. I never heard of the word RECESSION before.

Oh yeah, I need to correct something, the part where I said my first job was at 15 in the half, my sister was 15 in the half when she first started Toco Hell. She was the first one to have a job than me, I was 17 years old when I had my first job. I quit working at toco Hell at the age 18 years old. So yeah, working at a fast food place is hard and you don’t get paid good at all for it. I need a job that would pay me good, but it’s impossible without a degree or a good record.

@AnitaLTL My major is Art General. I been in college for 2 years now and I still not getting anywhere. I can’t get a job out here! I can’t even get a job at school either!

  55. Although its ironic as fuck Im doing better in the recession than i was when we wasnt in one Ball Til You Fall Baby shit hella cheap. I love it no complaints over here! @Tony Antoine you a fool! The recession is a muthafucka!

  56. Well, I graduated in May and have yet to find a job. Just about any job I search for requires experience that I do not have. And the job I interviewed for back in January (and was probably a lock to get) ended up going on a hiring freeze and it will not be lifted until next month (prayerfully). Thus, I had to take out a loan to be able to live the rest of the year. I basically stay home because I cannot afford to go outside. August was my personal hell because I literally had no money.

As for others, I know a few other unemployed people. I’m going to stop here because this topic is affecting me on a daily basis (and more than just too close to home).

  57. this wack azz recession is slowing down the job searching WAY too much!! I’ve been trying to escape the dungeon (my job) for months and have yet to get any real prospects cause everyone is on a hiring freeze. I’m extra pissy the Republicans point the finger at every lil thing Prez Obama does when they didn’t have ish to say when Bush was piling up the BS that led to this damn recession!?!!

I’ll be glad when it’s over cause I needa get up outta the dungeon which by the way is child support ASAP, folks be in court one second away from the “who gon check me boo” head tilt everyday!!

  58. I’m slow motion sometimes. Wasn’t nothing juicy just a general answer, lol.

((((((MS. KAY-J))))))) and others. I’m so sorry to hear about your situations. I’m hoping it will get better for you all soon.

This is why I tell people to pay attention to the world at large. Recessions are normal, we went through one in the 80’s, but for some reason this one seems to be one that is going to change this generation forever. Kind of like the Great Depression. I suppose thats a good thing, but the way it came about damn sure wasn’t. I saw it coming well before it started, with banks giving out home loans to just about anyone. Anyone with half a brain new it could not be sustained. I just urge all of you to begin paying attention to what’s going on here in America and around the world. Pay attention to the politicians who are shaping the policies that affect us and are taking campaign contributions from lobbyists who are only concerned with their bottomline. Let’s remember that Bush came into office with a almost $500 BILLION surplus and left us with a $1.3 TRILLION deficit! Get as involved and as angry as those who are protesting against President Obama’s proposed policies. Because when it’s all said and done we are going to be sitting around looking like WTF happened? AGAIN. And we won’t have anyone to blame but ourselves.

Some of us will be alright because we know how to survive, no matter what the odds are. And some of us won’t because we sit back waiting for things to happen FOR us or TO us. Do all that you can to make it. Just try not to degrade yourself or hurt anyone else.

I’ll get off of my soapbox now, I’m just a little upset by what I see going on around me and it seems as though many aren’t paying attention.

  59. Oh, and please be aware of the 300+ death threats that our President gets on a daily basis, more than any other President in history. Not to mention people showing up at his rallies with guns. He is sacrificing more than we could ever know. So do what you can to support him.

  60. WELL i havent had any problems paying my bills yet but i never thought the recession would affect my job..i work in the healthcare industry and our census is low…PPl are cancelling elective surgeries because of the recession and some ppl r even taking care of their loved ones at home..I’m a therapist and in my dept they had overhired last year and they r trying to avoid layoffs..we have all been taking vacation days here and there to try to stave off the layoffs for some of our coworkers. Its last one hired first one fired so i know i’m not on the list , i’ve been there 12 years but i still feel sorry if someone else was laid off..What the recession is doing for me is not allowing me all the wants i have..my needs r covered..but i consider myself blessed i know ppl who have it wayyyy worse..I hope its over soon…I dont know anyone doing really crazy stuff personally but i do know ppl are drawing their belts tighter..

  61. It kinda affected me cuz I had $$$, but as soon as the recession hit I became like a bank 2 some of my family members and they’re being extra slow about paying that shit back.
I’ve seen people do things for money, not really abnormal but now all of a sudden it’s more blatantly obvious…..this fool came into my job to cash his check, switched bills & then tried to tell me that I shorted him LOL I was like “You need to learn how to count right PIMP” then he wanted to keep arguing with me & I was havin NONE OF IT. Then he started arguing with the manager & that idiot finally caved and gave him the money because he was sick of arguing SMDH. I gave that fool the Imma fuck ur ass up look as he was leaving and needless to say 10 minutes later he came back in talking about he made a mistake & gave the $ back…………..mistake my ASS, fool realized that I might just be crazy enough to cut him LOL

  62. man i’ve been in a damn recession all my life!!!! i’m still in the hood! Growing ur told go to school, get a good education and the world is yours . Well i did just that even got a master’s degree and now i can’t find a damn job (that will at least pay master’s degree level) im stuck working anywhere and doing anything just to pay student loans for the education that was supposed to bring so much!!!! Go Figure! I know peps doing whatever and whoever just to get the bills paid.

  63. I HAVE A QUESTION I WAS WATCHING REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA AND SHERAE SAID SHE WAS INDEPENDENT.

NOW MY QUESTION IS, IF YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME IS ALIMONY PAYMENTS ARE YOU CONSIDERED INDEPENDENT

  64. @MsKay- Im prayin’ 4 u and your family.,I know that has to be hard
@seanpsalms-we missed you fam.,welcome back homie
@Minnie-AGREED.,I get soooo upset with how they are treating out president.,It HORRIBLE!!
    @bootyinyoface-LMFAO.,.,thats all I can do

At the end of the day.,you gotta do watcha gotta do by any means necessary to put food on the table and have a roof over your head!! No judgement passed at all. Its hard out here!!

  65. Hell yeah. down here some people just started making some fake McDonalds and TGI Fridays coupons. Niggas tryna eat boy! literally

  66. THE RECESSION IS CRAZY MY HUSBAND RAN AWAY FROM HOME BECAUSE HE LOST HIS JOB AND I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF US AND OUR KIDS. HIM NOT WORKING FORCED ME TO WORK LIKE 12 TO 16 HOUR DAYS TO KEEP UP WITH OUR LIFESTYLE. BUT I’M GLAD HE’S GONE THO I’M BACK TO LIVING IT UP! LET THEM OTHER BITCHES TAKE CARE OF HIS GROWN ASS!

  67. luckily, i hedged myself from the recession and worked my butt off at university and got a first class degree and a starting salary of $60k. I sacrificed fun for all my uni years for the best degree class. I would really recommend it – even if you don’t have a good time – you are set.

  68. NOPE THE RECESSION HASN’T AFFECTED ME PERSONALLY…I’M STILL GETTING PAID AND ENJOYING LIFE THANK GOD

PERSONALLY I DON’T KNOW ANYONE DOING SOMETHING STRANGE FOR ALITTLE CHANGE…NOPE

  69. The recession is a big deal and it’s hit everyone in some type of way. I’ve always lived paycheck to paycheck, but now I know how to cut down on wants and only get the needs. I was blessed to be able to purchase my home (big ups to Habitat) with a mortage that helped me save 200 from when i was renting. I was also able to start back school, (big ups OBAMA for that money) and still able to maintain all bills. I’m also going to have a roommate to help split the bills so that we both can have that extra money in the bank.

This too shall pass to everyone who is struggling right now. Continue to fall on those knees and pray. God has brought us all out of things much worse than this.

Oh yeah JD.. Im turning 30 in Jan. and me and my bestie are tryin to go to VEGAS to celebrate. Keep us posted so I be be in the building. LTL

    *waving*
    Hi Mr. BMCox

  70. fasho recession has stricken a lot of people in the world today, have hit me and some close to me. Then others to me haven’t been touch, u believe that it matters what means u make money for recession to hurt u, the street game is never on a decline but the job market is shoot to shit, some in the music world has been affected well the top dogs haven’t so it matters what stream yur money flow from..

  71. damn @JRIA that nigga lame as hell, but be glad he gone so you and your kids will be safe from catching his bitchassness!!

  72. yes the recession have affected me, i cant travel as i want to again. And no i dont know any1 who is doing anything 4 money.

  73. They fired my old boss at work… This chick is fine ass hell. She didn’t even see it coming and was not prepared at all. I had been trying to talk to her for a min but she always turned me down. Now 5 months later when they are getting ready to stop paying her and this trick is trying to get me to sale BODY MAGIC under her!!!!! LOL I’m like I’m not getting in no pyramid… Fine as she is, Body Magic won’t be the only thing she is going to be selling!!! LMAO!!

    I might buy……LOL

  74. It’s made me a bit paranoid… I work for the school district in Los Angeles and didn’t get cut the first time around but heard they’re sending out another batch of pink slips so my job might be in jeopardy… Financially it really hasn’t effected me too much…I was still able to go to London for the summer…I guess I’ve been grinding more just to have something to put away just in case… I’m blessed…things could be worse… I do have a uncle that was very high up at his job and was forced to take a vacation because he never does and when he returned they forced him into retirement 🙁 he wasn’t ready to stop working.

  75. I have three degrees; been “laid off” since our country went to war after 9/11; substitute teaching to survive and can’t even get a temp job ’cause I am overqualified for everything; singing on the side trying to win meals and money so we can eat and can’t qualify for food stamps; been to the food banks, relying on family support, and unemployment checks; family is struggling big time and we sold the house and are renting now, thankfully; brother got in Army to survive and support his family; people have been out of jobs longer than people realize or care to admit; it has only recently hit everyone else
We just basically cut back on everything; no cable, no Internet, no phones–jus the necessities. I get my hair done every 3-4 months instead of every week. It is hard gong from thousands of dollars a month to 480 a month.

It’s alright though. Hard times have made me stronger and even more faithful to God; I know what is most important to me and it is not the finer things in life. It’s all about God, family, and our overall well-being.

  76. you know i really stop replying on this site because i think my response never get read but here goes. i live in Detroit as you know its the motor city. so in this recession we are catching hell! ain’t nobody making no money. when the united states catches a cold Detroit gets funking swine flu! i worked in the auto industry of 17 yrs making damn good money. living the American dream but still every year that i work there i never allowed myself to get comfortable. there was always layoffs, callbacks, retooling and shit that kept you worry how long you would be there. well my number was up last year. i was asked to take the buyout and i did just that. i didn’t want to relocate somewhere else i would have lost all mt time. don’t feel sorry for me a got a nice package and my unemployment. my house and car are paid for. now as for what other people are doing in this recession, you name it they are doing it.ppl got to eat and they gone eat. that is my i hate to see the waste that goes on. poor ppl are not eating they are taking crumbs from each other and killing over it! its sad!

  77. whew where do i start?I..I was so use to being able to go out and buy things for my household without thinking twice about it,but ever since my husband got laid off from his job i had to learn over night how to budget our money …Not saying we had it like that but we wasn’t hurting for money but dammit we are now(smh) living pay check to pay check with three kids, rent, bills, school loans, insurance ect.. is alot to deal with..But we’ve managed to make it this far it’s almost been 1yr since he’s been off work and i always say to myself it could be worse..But even though our money isn’t the same we make sure to take our kids out to have a good time..I personally think that this has brought my family alot closer..

  78. It’s strange how one minute you see all of these artist getting on their videos talkin about how much they got and how the do it. Everybody listens. That’s right! even your government. My black people listen to it. You see how long it’s taking the health care situation. This should be settled by now. We are all americans so anything like a reform to health care should benefit every one Damn! we are the same species! We can’t even learn from our own alien movies. Preserve us! Naw there some who don’t want that. That’s why we are in this ordeal instead of keeping them guessing we are just telling them I got this I got that. They are on the other hand figuring out a way to give you less because of it. There is no recession! A lot of these companies pulled out because they wanted to in the first place. A lot of them got while the getting was good and found that near the end of the Bush term that they were in some shit.
It extended from the real estate industry to the automotive industry. I think part of this recession is an attack on the music industry. The beauty of it is it just trickled down. Stop braggin about what you got. There are too many out here doing that and it’s affecting the ones who don’t have much. It makes it harder on them in the long run. Stop exploiting. You are the bearers of the microphone. That’s power! So when you speak realize they lisen too. Oh yeah our government has a lot of people who still believe in the old way.

  79. LMAO @ ALL THESE GRIPPING ASS COMMENTS HOPING THAT IT WILL SINGLE U OUT AND JD WILL WANNA BE YA FRIEND!! HOW ABOUT HE TELL US WHAT TYPE OF SHIT HE’S SEEN HOES DO, JUST TO GET AROUND HIM AND HIS BOYS!!! WE PAY HIS ASS TO ENTERTAIN US BY BUYING HIS SHIT!! SO WHY ARE WE ENTERTAINING HIS ASS AND THE OTHER 6 OCEANS, AND THEY DONT GIVE US NOTHING EVER!! DAMN!!

BUT TO ANSWER YA QUESTION!! WHEN I FIRST MOVED TO THE ATL (LAST SUMMER) AFTER GETTING LAID OFF FROM MY JOB.. I LET THIS OLD FAT WHITE MAN GIVE ME HEAD FOR $150, AND i ALSO TRICKED THIS NIGGA INTO GETTING US A ROOM TO FUCK IN, CAUSE I AINT HAVE A PLACE TO SLEEP THAT NIGHT BESIDES MY TRUCK.. BUT A MONTH PRIOR TO GETTING LAID OFF, AND THOSE TWO EVENTS.. I WOULD OF TURNED MY NOSE UP AT SOMEBODY TELLING ME THEY DID THAT!! SOO DONT MAKE LIGHT OF PEOPLE GRIMING IT OUT WHEN TIMES ARE HARD …

AND FUCK WHAT YOU’VE HEARD OR SEEN OTHER DOO.. WTF HAVE YALL DONE!!!

  80. AND!!! JD RICH ASS AINT GONNA BREAK YALL OFF A COUPLE DOLLAS SO STOP HOPING… JD POST SOME SHIT WITH-IN THE MAJORITIES REACH!!! U GOT MF’S WRITING BAD CHECKS TO KEEP UP WITH YA ASS!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO STUPID MF’S!!

  81. @FATIHAH…. STFU…

  82. AND WHY THE FUCK JD, NEVER CHIME IN AND POST IN THE COMMENTS!!!!

  83. Nah the recession hasn’t affected me personally nor my fam we still got jobs …. still buy what we want when we want…. Haven’t seen anyone doing anything strange for a piece of change either – Ayanna a Texas lifer/Ocean’s chick

  84. It hasn’t affected me. I am in a supervisory capacity in the K-12 education field. My hubby is in the oil & gas business, and they seem to be laying off every other month. Everyone needs to get on their knees and pray for our country.

  85. Well I still have a job but I’m about to do what others will call stupid and step out on a faith and move to the Atlanta area soon. Seeing as though we’ve been in a recession since ’05 but most ppl are now feeling the effects of it, I was straight then and i’m straight now. I don’t have much but I don’t want for anything either. My faith in God is what is keeping me right now. With HIm I won’t be without. So no matter if I have a job or not I will be okay. I can say that with confidence because I’ve been there.
In 05 I moved in with my sister who was going to school, she didn’t have a job and niether did I. She had one child at the time and was pregnant with her second. She didn’t recieve child support for my niece. So there was like no income coming into the hosue other than a one thousand dollar school check she got from the military but that only covered bare necessaties if that. There were times where we didn’t have rent or light bill money but we never got put out and the lights were never off. GOD made a way for us then and I know HE’LL continue to do so.

  86. I’m not even gonna lie, things got really rough for me and i was going to donate some blood plasma for some money. I went as far as calling and making an appointment. But on the day of my appointment i didn’t have any gas to get there. Needless to say, things got better and i didn’t have to give away any plasma. I always started filling out tons of surveys online so i could earn the cash.
