MICHAEL STILL REIGNS AS KING

AND THE  SAGA CONTINUES
MICHAEL STILL REIGNS AS KING

Slow Release Week Will Leave Him on Top Again, With Fabolous Biggest Bow
The dog days of August commence this weekend, and it doesn’t look like there’s any relief in sight to the retail doldrums.
Based on one-day sales reports from those still keeping their doors open, Michael Jackson’s Number Ones will once more top the HITS Top 50, with the best-selling album in the country probably racking up another 120k or so, even if it does drop another 25%, though it’s a little early for estimates.

  1. Good for him, but the propofol comment was a lil insensitive. I mean he sold a lot of records because he’s a legend not because of a drug he may have taken. Leave the drug speculations to the news networks.

  2. It goes to show you that it is all about the quality of artist. These new artist do not have the same quality as the older artist while the producers are putting the blame on the internet. People still do buy music but now they only purchase quality music. Just like I told B Cox last night, put Dondria on the road now. Don’t wait until she finishes the album, she need to be on the road in training now. Just like Gladys Knight, Areatha and the rest of the greats. If you put the new artist on the road BEFORE they hit the studio, when the public finally sees them perform they should be well polished!!

  8. if you’re a man singing pop music today, there’s a long, moonwalk-shaped shadow you have to live up to. Artists such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Chris Brown and Ne-Yo ascended the pop charts because of their pop songs that white girls would like, and black and Haspanic girls would wanna fuck. But they became superstars because of Michael Jackson. No one has yet to recapture the impossible suaveness and otherworldly nimbleness of Jackson as a dancer — the Moonwalk completely rewrote the book on male sexuality in music, a move that evoked both deep-space androids and the rakish seducers of the old myths. But the rules he set for male singers still apply: Your voice can have all the range and grace in the world, but if you’re holding up the wall, you’ll still be mortal. Here are a few artists today who are trying to come close to Jackson’s footwork.

Justin Timberlake: He had plenty of choreography practice as a member of ‘N Sync, but as a solo artist, Timberlake came into his own when he embraced the idea that dancing wasn’t just what you did in lieu of playing instruments — it was a whole other means of expression onstage. He’s not as flashy as Jackson, but his moves have a precision and iciness that feel wholly true to his two excellent, alien-sounding solo albums.
But Justin Timberland didn’t do a lot with his face when he dances, his face always looks agitated and shit. I went to his concert, I wasn’t blown away as much because it’s like watching some random person copy Michaels moves. lol! But I love his music, it’s upbeat. I like Justin Timberland because of his smooth harmonies. Also I like that Timberland produce most of his records, the beats are almost similar to New Jack Swing. It’s good pop music that I want to hear. But his dancing never catches my attention.

Usher: Early hip-hop was rooted in B-boy culture, where breakdancing was a kind of competition, a means of proving one’s prowess physically and stylistically. Usher’s no rapper, but his moves have a similar brashness and “beat that” quality to them. He knows he’s good, and knows you love him for it. Watching him dance with Jackson, however, is like watching a high school star shoot free throws with LeBron James.
He doesn’t show that he has charisma or attitude on stage like Michael does, he’s just a mellow guy that loves to dance almost like Michael. But his music been consistantly ok.

Chris Brown: He’s had significantly bigger problems than perfecting his footwork lately, but let’s remember why Breezy became such a star in the first place. A thousand-watt grin always helps, but it’s his limber moves that won over teenage girls everywhere. His kinetic floor routines often overshadowed his singles in concert.
Even though Chris will never be at the level of Michael, he would if he understand how and why Michael got to where he was at the time he was Chris age. It’s all about having a vision, it’s all about creating magic. Chris doesn’t have that mindset. He doesn’t know how to take control of what album he wants to make. But right now, Chris Brown is a women beater, and no girl wants that shit, that’s a bad role model to be. I was never a fan of Chris Brown, only because he doesn’t wanna sing about important shit, it always have to be about clubbing, about dancing and about having a girlfriend. He’s just a wannabe Michael to me.

Neyo: He’s possibly the best songwriter, he only writes about love songs, nothing else than that, but Ne-Yo’s dancing is the secret weapon to why girls dig him. It’s minimalist and inventive and sleek as a jungle cat, and complemented by his excellent sartorial judgments. Even on a floor full of professionals, he never stops reminding audiences why backup dancers get that particular job for a reason.
If Neyo tries to write songs about things that people go through everyday, like self esteem issues, teen pregnancy, or life struggles, he would be more than just a awsome song writter. Them topics will get people thinking and wanting to change their mindset OR WAYS just lthe Michael did with his song. But right now, he’s gonna still make them love songs, and i’m actually sick of love songs because of him. He’s just a good song writter and that’s about it.

Justin Timberlake, Usher, Chris Brown and Ne-Yo ascended the pop charts because of their excellent songs’. Excellent songs? Really? Na, they not as big as Michael. MJ raised the bar of being an all-around entertainer in a way that changed everything…..
Michael Jackson is a pioneer/dance genius. He had grace, precision, fierce, charisma, attitute, and control that is unsurpassed. Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Usher, and Chris Brown are indeed good dancers but it’s all imitation.
And when it comes to music…they’re really nothing overly special…there’s a reason why most of their fans are young girls.
Michael Jackson’s fans are men and women, young and old of all races and all nationalities all over the world. There’ll NEVER be an artist as universally appealing as Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson redefined physical expression. PERIOD. His music speaks for it’s self. That’s the part that these wannabe’s are forgetting about Michael’s music. He sings about things that are real, he connects with people’s hearts and souls with his words. He’s like God damnit!

  9. It’s always wonderful to hear about MJ’s music being recognized, but it’s a shame that alot of people had to re-introduce themselves to this excellent man’s music after he passed. With everday that goes by I still can’t believe he’s gone. Their will never be another man like Michael. His talents were immense but his heart was even bigger.

  10. JD I think u should peep this being so u loved MJ as much as I did. This is what’s going down in NYC on 8/30/09 in Central Park but we’re dancing to Thriller.

  11. Hmm I came to realize Michael Jackson wasn’t human.. He was/is too perfect in every single part of his life. When we all die we will find out who he really was and why God sent him here.. Yeah I believe that!

  12. You can’t win!
