lnstrm has made a comment on LIVING THE LIFE (MESSAGE TO THE INDUSTRY PART 2):
JD,

I used to sit in my bedroom back in ’98 on my MPC trying to be like you, tryin’ to get those hi-hats just right.

Lately you on some other ish. Look at your music now, compared to 3-4 years ago.

You USED to make QUALITY music. You defined Atlanta hip-hop.

And all this crazy shit you post on global14; the Vans, the Han Sunglasses. You dudes tryin to be a skater or Ray Charles?

I’m just sayin’.

PS: Please don’t let me down w / this new Mariah project. The last o ne was TRASH.

  4. Bet this cat got on some dirty kicks. Real “in the know” type cats appreciate knowing what’s hot and not. Lots of people dont live big time metros where the latest everything is known. With that I check this site to see whats good with JD so I can see from a diff perspective in order to widen mine. Keep it poppin JD.

  5. Constructive criticism is needed, not just plain criticism. Well, I can understand this guy in a certain way. I was just like him all the years and the number one fan supporting jd and sosodef all day long – and I still do! But I realized that I sat down and thought that JD… not really lost his touch, but somehow was looking for his unique sound while evolving (like you always have to do), but hadn’t find it quite yet! Also to me it looked sometimes as if Jermaine was so wrapped up in everyday business, that he didn’t put that energy and intensity into his music like he used too. The sound sometimes was like somebody made a quick record. Now I don’t wanna diss JD, I love him to death cause he’s like the man that brought me to producing, but I realized that quality went up at the moment he left Def Jam and had more time beeing IN the studio. At least this is what I was feeling, maybe it’s not like this, I don’t know. So I can understand this guy in a certain way, but he’s def not right with the mariah comment. I didn’t feel Usher’s album that much too, I gotta admit. It was cool, but not of a standard that he set with his previous records and listening to that album I was thinking like: Damn, why did Jermaine just do like 2 songs on the whole album? Where is this energy from My Way where it’s a project from beginning to the end?!? So JD! Create your unique style you ALWAYS had and do an Usher album from beginning to the end like you used do. That’s the only thing I can “criticize” Take your time and evolve an album and a sound.

    Follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/EntertainYou

  6. JD you one of the best and I agree with EntertainYou on working on Usher’s whole album instead of just a couple songs because look at the last album where you did almost the whole album in Confessions..that was one of the best albums to EVER drop! Hope we get to see you A LOT on Ush’s next album!

  7. look my dudes and dudettes!!! no one i mean no one can stay hot FOREVER!!! dude been holdin us down since the early early 90’s!!! this dude has given you hit after hit. music grows and grows never stays the same. as we all know what is hot one year aint guarenteed to be hot the next. just like fashion! you have knew waves of music that break everyday. new artist, new producers and new sound. to me J was and still is the sound of ATL….doesnt mean that dude gotta always stay on top to keep that title. its impossible for that dude to be top of the charts every quarter…its way to much music out there….JD keep doing ya thang homie!!! straight up!!!!

  8. check this out as well….im not gonna talk much about myself as a upcoming arist. just go to the page and see for yourself!!!! JD im the individual that you are looking for!!! looking forward to workin with you . out!!

  9. listen check this out to yalll out there….my name is SHO and i am more than a up and coming artist. i am the artist that the majortiy of you will grow to love. all you have to do is click my name and listen to the music. if you dont like turn that shyt turn it off and let me know …i take all critisicm and run with it. i love what i do!! and ma job is to get you to love it to….so come check me out id appreciate it….

  11. LOL!!! BLOGGERS B ON SUM otha shit!! Usher last joint was on sum grown man Biz and Mariah shit wasn’t terrible. JD got dude feeling shitty!! Told his ass to read tha CREDITS!! LMAO!

  12. Naw man!!! He was off base with this one cause you can tell he’s ignorant to whats new and in. If your not in the know then your late on it. Granted I don’t buy a lot of the stuff he post on here but I’m glad he does cause it keeps me aware of whats hot and new for guys and ladies. I’ve given women ideas just off of this site. Keeps posting your shoe and watch game on here cause I’m feeling that shit. As far as your production…I’ve always like it even that joint you did with Paul Wall awhile back. I love the remixes you do like DJ Chuckie cause I’ve been playing that out here in Salt Lake City, Utah and people out here love it. So keep that shit up cause I can tell you know whats going on in the clubs cause you been out a lot. You are on the right track with that uptempo/Bmore tracks aka 130bpms cause as you can tell P. Diddy new album is going to be like that. Mariah’s new joint is straight but she needs a new club banger like “Like That” then she can come with the slow jams. Usher was nice cause he was talking about real stuff on that album but people didn’t like it cause they still wanted that “Yeah” club song. Honestly, “Confessions” is one of the best R&B album of our generation…it was impossible to meet those expectations. I know this album will be nice cause you can tell he’s focus right now from outsider looking in. Holla at me at myspace.com/djluvaluva

  13. JD,

true dat. i think the mimi album u produced for mariay is the best one!!! and the single “like that” is one of the best.

  14. Wienie ass dudes…………. I guess the haters dont stop huh?……….

  15. IN REGARDS TO HIS COMMENT ABOUT GLOBAL14 SHIFTING, I ADMIT THAT THIS WEBSITE IS NO DIFFERENT FROM SAYYYY>>>KANYE WEST BLOG!!! OR SOME OTHER WANNA BE SUPER DIFFERENT TYPE SHIT. I’M A FUCKING LIFER HANDS DOWN BUT I’M NOT GONE LET THIS SHIT GET TOO ALIKE IN HERE. FUCK THE COMMENTS ABOUT USHER AND MARIAH’S ALBUMS…MUSIC IS LIFE, IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME IN YOUR LIFE. PLEASE DON’T GET CRITICISM CONFUSED WITH PLAYER HATING. IT’S JUST AN OBJECTIFIED VIEW POINT. IF YOU DIG THE FACT THAT FANS MAKE YOU WHO YOU ARE (FAMOUS) THEN IT SHOULDN’T BE TAKEN TOO PERSONAL…I FEEL JD ON SETTING IT STR8 THAT HE DIDN’T RELEASE ANYTHING YET THAT’S USHER AND MARIAH BUT THE AFOREMENTIONED IS WHAT MY VIEW POINT AS IT PERTAINS TO GLOBAL14…IT WAS FINE THE WAY IT WAS…STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE. THAT’S WHAT ATTRACTED US TO THIS MOVEMENT. LIFERS UP!!!

  16. JD im curious…ok we know the music biz is in the shitter, what Im wondering is if an artist does an album, the album costs money to make, producers, studio time, promotion, distribution. Now if someone puts an album out and the thing goes nowhere, as alot of albums are doing. How does anyone involved make money? How is it even worth the money invested to put an album out now?

  17. I know we are suppose to be able to express our opinions. But please people do your research. Just because JD is associated with working with these people in the past frequently doesnt mean that he works on ALL of their work…How bout before you posted that comment…you should have asked him if MC’s last album was his work…then express your feelings….JD we love you in VA….you maKE QUALITY music and there IS NOT much quality music out there.

  18. Yes, that is a true statement, but you did absolutely ruin and butcher Janet’s last three projects..you don’t get her musically, stay in your lane, and keep the personal and business crap separate, Janet fans would really appreciate it…..thanks in advance…

  19. Damn JD, these people out here taking shots left and right at you homey. You gotta hit they ass with that ’92 Mike Tyson combo and put these fools in their place. Bump all that mess they talking…..i fucks wit you big time homey

  20. @ shay… JD only worked on 20Y.O. and Discipline, he didn’t do anything on Damita Jo…
As a Janet fan you should know that…

  21. JD you’ve been one of the best from the get go. I support you 100%. Impeccable track record, but in recent times a lot of people have been saying the same stuff about you in terms of your recent material. You are a man of evolution so I’m trusting that you’ll take all of their criticisms into consideration grow even more and show them who the boss is.
I’m A Lifer and I Live in St.Lucia….Born and Raised so you’re touching people all over the world!
Nothing But Greatness From Jermaine Dupri

  22. You see thats the problem today people dont read!!! i bet half the people that left those comments have the album but are just too lazy to read the damn writing credits…. PEOPLE when you buy an album your supposed to read the writing credits thats what it’s there for, they’re not there to make the pages look pretty..

  23. Oh JD you love the haters but some niggas just don’t understand that you are JD it’s because of the quality music in 98 that you can rock that shit…you a legend these young cats wouldn’t know anything about that like MJ he left the NBA for baseball…now only a legend can do that and still come back and still be respected…So as we all know mo money mo problems, this just lets you know JD that eachtime you get some BULLSHIT like this thats just more cash in your bank account…so hatters stop acting like this is new cuz JD makes it clear “YALL KNOW WHAT THIS IS!”

    iGght Jd stay cool dude!

  24. check this out i need all yall to just click on my name. check my page out and see if i got what it takes to be a force in this industry. i take all critisicm good and bad so just hit me up and tell me what you think …straight up. also you can hit me up on twitter.com/SHOMEDAMONEY . yeah but go peep game and tell me what you think about ma shit!

  25. People that say u ruined janet’s last 2 album are stupid… I mean songs like “Rock with chu”, “never letchu go”, “with u”, “so much better”, “this body is mine” and “do it to me” are hits and if they wer produced by another producer or sang by another artist everybody’d love because u’re boycotted, people dont wanna admit u’re the greatest and yor wife too. JD keep doing yo thang even if they underrate u. U’re the best, u could’ve done “U Got It Bad”, “Burn”, “can’t letchu go”,”fallin”,”thanx for nothin”… but u? u’re ten time better than the other producers , they can race with u cuz u’re excellent everywer (rap, r&b, pop, soul…) I hope u give usher never before heard melodies like u got it bad & burn.
    GOD BLESS U

  26. p.s. Rock With U is actually the best song EVER. its so year 4009

  27. Like JD said read the credits! Those two flops (of albums) belong to C. Tricky Stewart & Terius “The-Dream” Nash. So JD cant be blamed for that. I’m not saying “THE DREAM TEAM” (Tricky & Dream), cause Love vs. Money is hot, didnt have a few hit records on each of the albums but you can tell the Usher & Mariah joints were rushed cause people wanted to hear new music from them and they wanted to get something out to their fans instead of focusing on making classic albums like my man Jay does all the time. By the Blueprint 3 – September 11th 2009! Anyways, give Chi Chi O some credit cause dude makes hits! And I promise you if him, B. Cox & Johnta gets to work on most of the next Mariah & Usher albums, they wont be flops.

  28. Damn Jd ppl b emailing u with those kind of comments?? PPL dont know what to say out of their mouth…yeah u can critique but straight criticism is tacky? The same ppl criticizing to that extent arent even making moves like u.the way i c it u must be doing something right? Ignore the haters~

  29. PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS JD.

I love what you and ATL are doing and have always done and yes i’m a Lifer and i xome to your site everyday fpr the quote’s to place on my facebook for the day. Music is not just Muisc anymore and yes i think it’s coimg back around and has to go to the place of the ring tone to come full circle to come back around to day one of hip hop.. this a poem i wrote to hip hop and mad answer how we all feel about it right now as a whole.

    HIP HOP 101

You USE to make QUALITY music, Now you just make Ring Tones, You Use to be Hip Hop now your R&B, You Use to Rock the Mic, now you i-Tunes right? You Use to be Friday Night, now you Monday Starbucks, You Use Def Jam at NYU, now you have no A&R’s WOW… I USE TO BE HIP HOP! -Aarum Hurse

  30. Let’s be clear, I’ve still got made love for you JD. My bad on not reading the credits. It’s like word association; MC — JD, JD — Usher.

@M-Easy – No hate, homie. Fall back.

    @Jane Doe – Sheep.

@Shay – Spot on, homie! Janet belongs with Jimmie and Terry.

@Christopher Owens – And how well did he do in Baseball?

    @Charloetta – It ain’t even about that.

@Charm The Producer – Have a fall back attack, homie! Usually I don’t put down other beat makers, but if you want to come at me sideways — your Myspace Fruity Loops ish is LAUGHABLE! Save your pennies, MPC’s are cheap these days, get one and do some real ish. Use your hands!

@DJ Luva Luva – I could care less about being “in the know”. Again, laughable. When things where worth being “in the know about”, I was. Can you tell me how many ASCAP awards JD has without Googling it? DF outta here with all that!

I guess if people would make quality records I WOULD ACTUALLY BUY THEM and read the credits. On the real, that’s the first thing I used to do whenever I bought a record — straight to the J-Card. I was thrilled to see who produced and wrote on the record. I would rush out to Best Buy on a Tuesday (when all the new records came out, for you iTunes youngin’s), and be there before they even opened to cop the new hot ish.

My musical taste has expanded since those days that I spoke about in that comment, I like most music now, I attribute it to growing up. Though I still only really like ish that has soul, some backbone, if you will. It makes me sad, but the last record I bought, was the Daughtry record, yeah, rock music, not hip-hop, and that was back in 2007. That was the first record I purchased in 8 years. Dude is genuine, un-contrived, and makes GREAT records.

Hip-Hop just makes me sad. It took us so long to find our way, and now we are losing it.

Listen to the Anglela Yee interview w/ Trick Daddy (like him or not) @1:10 and 2:30. That is the REALEST ISH I have heard in years. Gives me goosebumps how truthful it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMQfDlQcH34

And what about the latest Sean Kingston record? That “911” ish. Does that sound anything like he has done in the past 3 years? Is that J.R. on that record? I don’t know, I don’t care. I do know, I HAD mad love for Mr. Rotem, his records where unique.

I’m well aware that there will never be another “Emancipation of Mimi”, “What’s the 411”, “Chronic”, “Slim Shady LP”, “Ready to Die”, “Funkdafied”, “Life in 1472”, etc.

To all singers, rappers and producers – stay in your lane. Make your music, make QUALITY music, make your money, then bow out, and start a clothing line or open a bakery. Know when your time is up. Look at Madonna a an example.

Saturation will kill any industry. And hip-hop is bleeding out right now. Be

  31. *Correction – I bought Elliot Yamin’s record, as well. That boy can knows how to make R&B music!
